Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Ingredients: Golden Promise and crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

Pale brown colour. The oak and whiskey come through in the aroma. Texture is thin. Flavour is a little bit sour and quite bland. There’s not much depth to this for all it’s fancy brewing.

330ml bottle.
Pours a clear honey amber with a tall foamy head. Aroma is very nice and sweet. Caramel and sappy oak. Med body. Silky carbonation. Taste is sweet and hoppy with traces of alcohol, wood, and honey. Not a bad beer but not my style.

Very different. pours clear amber/orange with slim, lasting white head. Smells delicious, sweet, citrussy and vanilla. Flavours start light and fruity, finishing woody, malty and slightly metallic. Smooth and gently warming.

Bottle. Very pale orange/yellow colour and a smell reminiscient of a traditional lager. But this is an ale! The taste though, is all ale ;o) Slightly honey-sweet to begin with, it transforms into a malty taste with clear taste and aroma of oak.

The aromas of caramel and vanilla are strong and pleasant. It has a simailar flavour in description to its smell. Not very bitter but full flavoured nonethless. Truly different...in a good way.

Rich aroma with caramel and vanilla dominating, but also some woody notes. Medium to full bodied, not too refreshing, but more packed with flavor. Lacking bitterness in the finish to balance the sweetness. Very interesting beer.

clear amber, frothy off white head, good lace, sweet buttery caramel malt aroma with light vanilla, creamy body, sweet carmel malt flavor, light bitterness, touch of oaky vanilla character adds depth, oaky bitter finish, shows stronger than expected, respectable, sweet buttery and caramel if you’re into that

Poured it in my Westmalle glas - because it was the glas that most closely looked like the Innis & Gunn glas. It pours a dark amber/copper body that has a lots of bubbles in it, with a thin creamy layer of foam. Aroma of vanilla toffee and oak, fruity - i really love the aroma cant stop smelling it. Flavor is of vanilla, toffee, oak, plum, little alcoholic tonse(the good kind)- but it isnt that large that you would excpekt from the aroma. Palate is medium thick and pretty smooth but little harsch to, pretty fizzy. Its a very good beer and very priceworthy.
