Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Ingredients: Golden Promise and crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

Clear bottle. Poured a medium amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of vanilla, marshmallows, caramel, light oak and stale gummi bears. Tastes of vanilla, light wood, toasted malts, and caramel. Thinner body.

smell is wonderful- vanilla, oak, sherry. taste equals the smell, the subtleness of vanilla and sherry present but not overpowering. beer characteristics don’t shine here- the undertones seem to be the flavors that are presented (again, not overpowering though.) Nice sipping beer, very mellow, almost like sipping a cognac. high alcohol is hidden. mouthfeel is pretty light."

I agree with the rest of the reviews...a good beer that doesn’t live up to a great promise.

At the Brewhouse in Norwalk ct, Decent brew. Served from a bottle in large chalice glass. A clear copper color, minimal white head. Aroma was mostly malts, sweet caramel malts with some wood notes. Flavor was very rich with caramel and vanillia. Balanced out with an almost too subtle oak note, hops were very mild in the finish. A very smooth drink, but it did seem watery at times. Alcohol seemed lower then 6.6%.

Incredible beer. Can barely call it a beer, as it seems you are drinking a dessert. Vanilla, toffee, and caramel flavours are most certainly present in this maple syrup-coloured concoction. Certainly worth a try if you haven’t before!

Sampled at LCBO Summerhill Beer Festival, Toronto ON. Read the description and wanted immediately to try it, wasn’t let down. I don’t know how much it tastes like actual whiskey - and I am a scotch drinker - but it was very good. Lots of vanilla and toffee, sweet but quick finish. Would be easy to drink a couple of these after a big meal - Christmas maybe?

Bottle. Light unclear amber orange color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy toffee and butter, vanilla, honey, oak, wood, light citrus Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration. Very nice and smoth. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is flat to soft. Very nice ;o))
