Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Ingredients: Golden Promise and crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

I tried this on July 5, 2007 after purchasing it at my local LCBO store. It was a nice pretty clear bottle. The beer poured a coppery red colour into the glass with a 1 finger creamy white head that dissipated quickly to leave a little trace on top. The smell was rather foul to say the least....almost sour. The mouthfeel is crisp and slightly thick with an idea level of carbonation. The taste is good with some hints of malt and fruit (although I can’t place the sweetness off-hand).

330ml bottle. pours amber with little white head that quickly dissapears. aromas of vanilla, oak barrel, malt, scotch whisky and sweetness. flavours are the same as these things combine into a perfect balance of smooth complexity. this beer is fantastic and never lets you down.

Rating is the average of two vastly different ratings. Looking for a third one in order to go with the majority.

What the heck have they done to this? Butter, mustard, cabbage. Quite acidic. This is rank.

330ml bottle (Mallaskukko, Turku) Rich amber, small head. Vanilla, oak, malt, butter, whisky, ... Oh screw it, words cannot describe this beer, it’s just so mellow and smooth and warm and inviting. Beautiful.

Warm amber and a nice, golden head. The aroma has notes of vanilla and freshly chipped oak. The flavour has the same notes and a sweetness and a note of tannic acid and citrus. The sweetness and vanilla is a biit too dominant for me.

bottle. Copper colour, tiny head. Smoky and malty nose. Malty beer with lots of flavours, especiall flavours reminiscent of whisky, caramel, honey, roasted malt an vanilla. Very complex brew, but highly enjoyable.

Bottle. Honey colored is appropriate. Pours clear with a thin, white, soapy head that disappeared in about a minute. The aroma was light but pleasant with notes of toffee and oak. The flavor was subtle and quite nice with vanilla, toffee and oak all present. A touch of scotch whiskey flavor at the finsh with some very light warming as well. Very easy to drink with a smooth, full mouthfeel. Enjoyable.
