Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Ingredients: Golden Promise and crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

Toffee and caramel aroma. Amber with little fast dissipating head. Flavour is strong caramel, vanilla, toffee, honey and malt. Medium bodied with not too much carbonation. Finishes toffee. Not to every taste, but it is certainly to mine.

Not necessarily expecting a lot from this but I really liked it. Deep amber with about a 1cm head that quickly dissipated. Strong, malty and somewhat earthy aroma. Good, sweet mouthful with the vanilla coming to the fore along with toffee, honey and an earthy maltiness. Really enjoyed this.

I have never been a big fan of this beer, but I can see why people enjoy it. Pours amber with small amount of white head. Aroma not bad, with some maple syrup notes, but too much alcohol coming through. Taste is overly sweet, with buttery caramel notes, woody with some vanilla notes.

33cl bottle. Pours pale amber with a medium head. Nose is a bit skunked, a bit citrusy with some caramel. Some light vanilla. Taste of sweet caramel. No evident bitterness. Some oak. Quite straight forward. Quite drinkable and somewhat refreshing. Interesting beer.

I can appreciate people liking this beer, personally it just doesn;t sit well with me. I has a decent nose, vanilla honey and a strong, sweet taste agian of vanilla and honey and a element of scotch /oakiness. Perhaps it is the sweetness but I don;t find this one easy to drink. Nice idea though

For whatever reason, I had never had this, thinking that all the old supermarket bottles must have over-halogen lit and hence skunked. So i picked up a fresh-y one at whole foods. Poured as it looks in the bottle (duh), taste is like butter toffee cookies after english tea. Really. And that’s a good thing.

Bottle from daknole--thanks Dakine! Cool bottle, me a no happy that it’s clear. Yep, it is a little skunked nosing it after the clear amber pour with a one finger off-white head. There is also some diacetyl and lots of caramel. Faint oak is present with maple syrup and honey. Damn--sweet! Flavor mimics the aroma just fine, which isn’t really fine at all. So much diacetyl. Minimal bitterness in the semi-dry slightly woody finish. Light prickly carbonation with a medium-light body. Me no likey.

Bottle courtesy of Bill on 07/12/2009. Clear caramel amber body with a thin off-white head. Sweet caramel, oak, vanilla and light fruit aroma. Sweet vanilla, oak and fruit flavor with a caramel background. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.
