PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jun 17, 2007 Marietta, Ga. - Bullocks Wine and Spirits - 11.2 fl oz bottle. Sparkling medium copper pour, tight white head. Intoxicating aroma of vanilla and smoked oak. Sweet flavor - pick up some vanilla, marshamllows and a hint of scotch. Very smooth and drinkablle and could turn cloying if not careful - but does not. Thick, creamy mouthfeel - very clean tasting. I really enjoyed this one. scanovajr (361), Stanford, California, USA Jun 14, 2007 Bottled. Amber color with a nice creamy head. Aroma is oak. Taste is sweet, malty and wood. Nice mouthfeel. Dry and alcoholic end. Nice beer ChainGangGuy (2523), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jun 10, 2007 Appearance: Pours a clear, dark amber body with a foamy white head and great lacing. Disregarding the use of clear glass, the bottle is rather attractive.
Smell: This aroma is all about the whiskey. Soft touches of buttered bread, wood, and sugary vanilla are also evident.
Taste: The whiskey quality shows up as soon as you open the bottle, and as soon as it touches your tongue. Features some malty caramel, lemon, and pepper with a mountainous amount of oak in the flavor. Finish is distinctly wooden, with strong notes of vanilla bean.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Amply carbonated.
Drinkability: A singularly unique beer that’s best enjoyed slowly. bobaidan (358), Farmington, Connecticut, USA Jun 8, 2007 Pours crystal clear copper with a small head. Aroma at first was skunk, but quickly changed to whiskey and port.Flavor is mostly sweet with nice oak and vanilla touches. Extremely easy to drink. I really really enjoyed this. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jun 8, 2007 Bottle poured a clear amber with a large lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, oak and vanilla. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of oak, carmel, vanilla, light whiskey and light toffee with a smooth lingering finish. HapyAcid (4), Ireland does not count Jun 7, 2007 33cl bottle poured half filled into 33cl glass with stem, 07/06/07. Served at room temperature. Appearance: Golden brown, rich and clear. Large thick white head reduces to a small light white head after two minutes which then holds up for duration of tasting. Aroma: Noticed while pouring, vanilla, vanilla, vanilla! Toffee aslo noticed in the background. Taste: Oak is there but again vanilla rules over. Toffee noted again along with very slight citrus bite. Slight fizz but generally a very smooth beer. Verdict: A smooth, warm beer with lots of character. imdownthepub (5089), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Jun 7, 2007 Bottled, 330ml, pasteurised. Burnt orange with little lasting head. Strangely I had a light deposit with mine when I poured it. Mellow, smooth flavours synonimous with aged beers, though sweeter than most. There are woody, vanilla notes to the fore with a touch of whisky about it. Malty in a warming way, maybe a little cloying, but a decent enough beer. HogcliffeLenny (162), Christchurch, Dorset, England Jun 4, 2007 Updated: Jul 1, 2007A good one for the Summer. Burnt amber in appearance, with little head. The aroma didn’t hit me but the flavours did! A wonderful infusion of vanilla, malt and whiskey, with a hint of sweetness. It is a crisp, refreshing ale, with flavours bursting on the taste buds. The best thing about this ale is the warm glow left on the palate and its lingering flavours that stay with you for some time. Definately one to serve chilled.
