""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

11.2 oz clear bottle, best by date 16 JUN 07. Clear amber with a thin white head. Nose is initially a bit skunky, but gives way to a caramel and lightly woody scent, light vanilla notes. Flavors of toffee and vanilla, very light earthy hop notes. Dry, somewhat alcohol tinged finish. OK beer.

Bottle. Brandy-orange in color. Nice bottle and packaging. Hints of whiskey, wood, sweet. Similar in taste - awkward - feels like I’m drinking a watered down Jameson straight up (and soon to get ill). Very interesting and a sure favorite for those who like drinking beer that tastes like Jim Beam.

Bottle -- Medium creamy head with some retention and a bit of lacing. Quite active carbonation. Gorgeous rich copper colour. Rich woody aroma with malt and butterscoth. There’s more wood in the flavour, along with butterscoth, malt and a general feeling of friendliness. Creamy palate. Some bitterness discernable (perhaps) in the aftertaste. An excellent and unusual beer. Needed to rerate this one since it tastes much better in winter than summer!

tonight was probably the 3rd time i have this beer, and I must say it gets better with age. This bottle was much more mellow than the previous ones. the oak really comes through! lots of english hops, and a very subtle vanilla amongst the massive amounts of oak. but the booziness i got in the young bottles is very much gone, decent beer, but near the end of the glass its hard to put down.

Nice cobber colour with a light tan-coloured head. Burbon and a slight sweetness to the nose. It has a smoky/burbon taste with notes of plum and vanila and a slightly bitter finish at the back of the tounge. The alcohold of 6.6% ABV is well hitten. It has a medium body with just a hint to much carbonation. The texture is slightly watery but still quit filling. I would not call it typical Scottish ale, but place it in the SMOKE-FLAVORED AND WOOD-AGED BEER, Style 22C

Tasted 2007-03-15. Fresh bottle, 33cl. Clear, red-brown colour. White, creamy head. Looks very nice! All I get from aroma is pickels! It’s quite weird! Taste of hops, strawberries and then those darn pickels again. It’s interesting, and I guess the taste is not bad. The pickels are a little distracting for me though. All in all I kinda like it, and I think I’ll drink again due to curiosity!
