SSSteve (2049), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 19, 2006 clear orange/amber with a small white head. hoppy malt aroma. flavor is very woody. dry. light bodied. i liked it. ElGaucho (1730), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Nov 18, 2006 Strong, euro lager aroma with faint caramel malt and hints of butterscotch. Crystal clear amber body with a slightly off-white, frothy, lasting head and some lace. Flavoful with a high alcohol aspect, sweet. Clearly not an American beer in character. Oak aged quality is there but doesn’t add much except perhaps for some strength. Toffee and wood flavors in the finish. Quite tasty. Hansen (2235), Randers, Denmark Nov 17, 2006 Normally I don’t like this kind of odd hopped aroma, but this time its spiced with coconut-notes, perhaps from the oak. The coconut is in the flavor too, real present. Clear and amber colour. Head is off-white and mainly lasting. Palate is a bit thin. swiseman (200), Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada Nov 10, 2006 amber color - rapidly dissipating head. Hints of fruit and whiskey in the nose. Flavour has a strong whiskey and wine flavour; the whiskey remains on the palate with notes of honey. This beer is definitely unique, as the label suggests. I will definitely be trying this stuff again. KnutAlbert (3111), Oslo, Norway Nov 8, 2006 Fine amber ale with some head. Taste of malt, smaoke and oak barrels. Maybe the oak is a bit overwhelming, it takes strong flavour in the beer itself to take on the oak! Fine, but you would not want more than one of these at a time. rederic (1787), montréal, Quebec, Canada Nov 7, 2006 Beer coming in a clear bottle, bright amber color, with a white head, the nose is one of malty, with an oaky whiskyish, a woody accent, faint fruitiness note, a subtle brandyish aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a toasted malt, a brandy and whiskyish character, an oakiness accent, a subtle fruity note, leading towards a sweet malty whiskyish finish. mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 6, 2006 The clear glass bottle accentuates this heavily-filtered beer. It pours a honey pale colour, with a quickly dissipating head and some lace. The aroma is musky, complex, and a bit sweet. The flavour is very peaty, with strong whisky highlights lingering into the aftertaste. The carbonation is slight, and it tastes a bit flat. Overall, very drinkable, but to quote another reviewer, "touristy". flemmingwillum (226), København S, Denmark Nov 2, 2006 Yellowish beer with a head that quickly dissapears. The aroma is whiskey-like, wooden, a little alcoholic and also a little malty. Very special aroma indeed. The flavor still have wood and whiskey, but also butter and a little acrid hops towards the woody butter-aftertaste. The beer can seem a little too sweet, but at the same time you wouldn’t want it less sweet because some unfortunate alcoholic or non-pleasant wood-notes might be more obvious. I have also recognized some coriander in this beer, but it might just be some weird barrel-taste that are represented. I really don’t know what to think of this beer; do I like it or not? However, it is a unique, good quality brew and might be very pleasant to other people, so I have given it a fair rating.
