Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Ingredients: Golden Promise and crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

Bottle, best before June 24, 2006. Poured a clear amber with a large fizzy white head. Sharp aroma of metallic grass, with some vanilla upon further inspection. Flavor is soft and smoky, with some light grassy hops and a slight blended scotch whiskey burn. Body is very soft with moderate carbonation. An ok beer. Nothing particularly wrong with it, but not particularly memorable, either. Probably could be considered a good value for the price.

Bottle thanks to HogTownHarry! Poured a clear, bright coppery-amber with a long-lived cap of off-white head. Nose picked up an intriguing blend of oak, apple cider, cedar, rum-soaked toffee, honey, and fresh lighter fruits. Sweet honey, pears, caramel, and oak emerge in the front of the mouth.. with faint traces of malt whiskey, vanilla, and floral hoppage showing up in the middle. Lighter-bodied and smooth, but dryness wasn’t too enjoyable. Overall quite tasty and definitely different. Thanks, Harry!

Robe dorée foncée très claire surmontée d’une mousse blanche mince qui persiste. Arômes de chêne. Saveurs de chêne, de whisky et de malt caramel. Houblon de soutien.

330ml bottle. I personally didn’t care for the aroma this beer dishes out. To me it was like the time I spilled Duckstein and some went behind the fridge. However, many people enjoy the aroma. My only complaints are the aroma and a lack of complexity.

Clear golden body with a medium white head. vanilla & butterscotch aroma. Taste has too much vanilla flavours with some pleasant butterscotch as well as some oak hints. As forgettable as a straight-to-video beach movie. Bottle.

Bottled. A golden beer with an off-white head. Lots of wood and smoke in the aroma, and some malt too. The flavor has smoke and bacon in it, along with a malty sweetness. Lightly cloying, sweet finish and a medium to full body. Goes well with dark chocolate. Rating: 6-4-6-4-13-3.3. (060428)

Bottle. It pours a clear, golden body and a diminishing, minimal off-white head. Malty, toffeeish nose with butterscotch and vanilla, some fruityness, and a hint of something in the middle between caraway seeds and anise. A bit more warming in the mouth than suits the beer, giving a hint of whiskey. Full-bodied and almost sticky sweet. The flavor is on the sweet side, with toffee and vanilla, some alcohol and fruityness, a little bitterness, and some spicy stuff. Long, toffeeish and vanilla-flavored finish with a little bitterness. A quite flavorful beer, but it’s not flavors that suits my palate too well, it actually feels a bit un-natural, but sure, I can drink a bottle every now and then. (090620)
