Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Ingredients: Golden Promise and crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

Very nic,e but very potent too, apparently it has some Whiskey spots because of its aging on the barrels.

Golden brown body with white head ,some laces; Medium sized nose with a somewhat strange combination of sweet and fresh: Loads of sweet malt and citrus as the most characteristic, but also vanilla sugar, toffee. It has depth but is very simple; Full carbonation in a balanced body with quite sweet and a very little bitter, little fat/creamy in texture; Long finish, but again very simple and sweet. Toffee all over the place, combined with a very little spicy sharpness. Very simple beer!

(Bottled) Clear amber color with a medium, foamy and fading, lacy head. The aroma is toffeeish with lots of vanilla, and some oakiness - still quite dull overall. The flavor is initially very oak-barrely, and the actual beer’s sweetish toffee - blended with light vanilla hints - begins to emerge in the finish. The maltiness seems more robust than last time, but the oak is still a bit aggressive. On the other hand, if you like it, you like it. Light to medium-bodied palate with quite high carbonation. In the end, this is not bad, and you’ll get used to the oakiness after a while. Still it’s not quite my thing. (Bottled, was 5-4-5-3-10=2.7) Clear amber color with a medium, foamy and fading, lacy head. Aroma starts off a bit harshly hoppy, then rubbery, earthy urine with oaky hints. Later on, a more mellow, toffeeish aroma follows, with some whiskey notes, but urine still flowing in the background. The flavor is whiskey without the alcohol, with very strong oak barrel and some vanilla. Pretty low, mellow maltiness. The ABV feels even less than what it is. Light to medium-bodied, dry and quite low-carbonated palate. Like whiskey blended with lots and lots of water. Has next to nothing to offer as a beer, IMO.

Bottle, 330ml. A clear, dark amber pour with an average lasting head. Strong aromas of oak and hops. Flavour is mostly oak, but with hints of hop and malt. Average duration finish of malt and oak. The taste is certainly unique, although it doesn’t really do much for me. I think it would be nicer with less Oak and more noticable hops and malt.

A dark amber color with a sweet caramel taste. The oak flavor is not that notiable, it is a very pleasant drink.
