AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA Mar 7, 2006 An orangey amber with a decent head of off-white foam. Aroma is strong caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak. Flavor is lighter than expected as well as a relatively thin body and some overbalancing acidity. WEAK!! onystrom (741), Århus-Randers Crew, Denmark Mar 6, 2006 Beautiful clear amber color with great head. Slightly watery with a fine taste of hops and malt. WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 27, 2006 Surprisingly uninteresting. Oak can dominate the flavor of the beer, so can a whiskey keg. The result is a beer with almost no complexity. Slightly skuniked in the nose, maybe from the clear bottle, but also sweet and fruity. Taste of vanilla and oak, sugar and skunk. A little thin ... On balance, the nose was the best part. TheGrandMaster (1848), Auckland, New Zealand Feb 24, 2006 Poured from the bottle, amber with a little carbonation and a large pillowy and airey head (which displayed some lacing). Very much a smokey and peaty aroma similar to whiskey, but there is a beery sweet maltiness beneath this as well. Definite oak on the palate, but also sweet caramal and dry finish. I acknowledge the distinctiveness of the beer they have created, but not being a great appreciator of whiskey, I am unable to rate it any higher than average. Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway Feb 21, 2006 Updated: Feb 22, 2006330 ml bottle. Clear brownish golden. Thick fine-laced head that clings to the glass. Rich malty aromas with a strong vanilla note. Caramel pudding. The aroma is quite unique. Hop bitterness at the front of the tongue - enhanced by the high carbonation level. Rich caramel flavour. It feels quite sweet in the mouth, but there are enough hops here to balance most of it. Very drinkable even though the alcohol level is rather high. Nice. Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Feb 20, 2006 clear reddish-amber colour with a little foam formed of big bubbles; rich honeyish and flowery aroma; full-bodied, some initial sweetness soon followed by a tart bitterness, dry and long hoppy finish with strong woody and honeyish notes - complex and beautiful; thanks to fiulijn for this one stephen louis (162), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Feb 19, 2006 Nice looking bottle and label, seems strange to put it in clear glass bottle.I hope it is not sun-struck.
Pours Amber, halcyon, and unclouded. Small ,dense ivory coloured head.
The nose is both sweet and oakish, a back ground of hops and banana and citrus, sort of a weird combo but it works.
Taste is agreeable and mellow, almost cream like in texture on first sip.Caramel, vanilla and yes, oak, come through strongest followed by the carbonation and a earthy bitter grass/lemon taste.the transition back to unctuous is not that smooth, but the finish is thick on the tongue and very candy like.
This is a good beer, worth our time to find and try.

A mostly lasting large creamy white head that tops up a clear medium orange /copper body. Moderate lacing. No particules. Heavy filtration. Aroma is heavy nutty while hops are very faint lemon / lime. Also, there are evident traces of toffee and excessive notes of vanilla from barrel aging. Initial flavor is heavily sweet /nutty and gets confirmed and reinforced in the development. Finish is long and sweet. medium to full body... creamy texture... Soft carbonation...
