| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2005 Pours a light amber with a thin head. Big oak and vanilla aromas as well as some malt. The flavour was dominated by the oak with vanilla pulling up a close second. medium bitter finish. O.k I guess but the oak flavour just didn’t seem to fit in. Habanero (617), Tranbjerg, Denmark

Medium lasting dry/bitter finish. jerc (3885), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 20, 2005 Bottle from the NSLC. Medium amber body, a semi-vigorous pour yields a good sized fluffy off-white head (3+) but it quickly diminishes. Sweet malt, charred caramel and alcohol make up the aroma. Flavour has a rudely abrupt entrance with rough alcohol woody notes, and a mildly astringent bitterness barging past the caramel and malt echoes of the aroma. Slight strange boozey undercurrent, shakes of the inertia as it warms. Bit of a bite too it, coming back to it after a few minutes revealed much more oak. Average palate. Not as bad as I expected, but not something I want to have again. HazelRah (276), Summerland, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 16, 2005 Poured amber with a vanishing white head. Apple aroma with a modicum of charcoal. Flavour is woody with buttery notes. Smooth too, with a slight hop angle. Alcohol not noticeable. The oak grows on me. Lubiere (4480), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 15, 2005 Red amber ale with a thin lacing white head. Some skunk escapes, then some whiskey barrel wood comes out with light hops. In mouth, again malty scotch with light restrained hops, but rather thin in finish. A good beer for the oak age crowd. davegore (201), liverpool, Merseyside, England
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 15, 2005 bottle from asda, this is the cask strength, 7.7%abv, more of the same but better, honeyed malt whisky and sweetness which dissolves to a fantastic honeyed finish, very long in the mouth, sweetness again but ends with an almost bitterness, strange, cant place it, could be molasses, good stuff though, but not a session beer Veer (355), Landskrona, Sweden
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 12, 2005 Updated: Jun 7, 2006Smells of hops, malt, whisky, rum raisin, cloudberries, honey (good one), vanilla, diacetyl & butter.
It is clear orange with a white head. Whisky coloured.
The taste is sweet-sourish, rich, alco-hoppy bitter (in a little too sweet way), a bit too pilsner-like.
Mouthfeel: tasty, mildly spirituous, mineral, malty and unusual.
