ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Mar 23, 2009 Clear copper pour. Fluffy off white head and surprisingly no lace. Sweet malts and oak on the nose. Bourbon, toffee, oak, and vanilla. Slight citric finish. Seemed like there was more more alcohol evident then the list 6.6% ABV alexchafe (29), , Newfoundland, Canada Mar 14, 2009 aroma has some serious pears, with a touch of vanilla. flavour is caramel, spices, surrounded by apples and pears. Its whiskey notes come through on the bitter sweet and, I think, gorgeous backend. it’s medium bodied and ultra smooth. this stuff is underrated, perphaps because its so easy to find a skunked bottle. i really wish innis and gunn would sell this in their singles boxes, most stores don’t know how to store this stuff! Beer2000 (1775), Kristiansand, Norway Mar 11, 2009 330 ml bottle. Clear, golden body with a nice, but collapsing off-white head. Aroma is strong caramel with vanilla. Flavor is sweet caramel, vanilla, oak and descent bitterness, quite smooth. The aftertaste has a clear indication of whisky. There is a lot better and stronger flavored oak aged beers out there, but this is quite nice anyway. DrBayern (1135), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Mar 9, 2009 Bottle from Doboy, shared at our last tasting. Clear gold with a sturdy, creamy white head. Oak aroma quite evident, caramel, some earthy character as well. Medium body, smooth, silky mouthfeel, light carbonation. Toffe flavors up front, soft, subtle bitterness on the back side allows a gently sweet finish. I like the oak flavors and aroma, and found this quite enjoyable. Nordcore (266), North of, Norway Mar 9, 2009 Updated: Apr 12, 2009Bottle. Apperance; Amber, clear with a nice small foamy head. Aroma; honney, very sweet caramel. Flavour; light sweetness of caramel. elihapa (1034), Honolulu, California, USA Mar 3, 2009 Bottle. Pours bourbon-esque orange brown. Aroma has wood, scotch, caramel and toffee. Palate is buttery and smooth, and flavors are soothingly sweet. This beer suggests barrel-aging very strongly, mainly due to sweet residual scotch flavors and woodiness rather than complexity. A solid drink. CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Mar 1, 2009 Compliments of doboy! Pours from clear bottle a clear, copper body and a lush, white head. Aroma of malty, with an oaky whiskyish, with a woody accent. Flavour was reminiscent of whisky, vanilla, butterscotch, warming alcohol notes (strong ale, after all), and (surprisingly) a hint of dill. The aftertaste is all vanilla and dill. Lovely beer from my peoples homeland! Thanks Ed! LarsEngen (101), Sandvika, Norway Feb 28, 2009 Bottle, Clear amber color, small white head. Smells a bit like butter. Taste like microwave popcorn with butter... strange.. Long end
