| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 24, 2009 Pours a dark mahogany with a thin off white head. Aroma is light, vanilla, dark fruit, cherry, vanilla, and super faint anise. The flavour is good, mainly dark fruit, cherry being the most prominent, which I love, a bit of the oak shows up momentarily, ends on a light anise, cherry, and oak note. I thought this was pretty flippin delicious, I really love the notes of cherry in there.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 5, 2010 330ml Bottle: Another in the series of Innis & Gunn sexy box beers, this time fancy blue. Pours darker than I expected, a deep brown with pretty much no head at all. Heavy oak aroma, lots of alcohol, toffee, tea, and a hint of resiny hops. First sip brings that oak and alcohol, chased with good bittering, but all wrapped up in a light, thin body. I usually like these and this is no different, just something unique and enjoyable enough. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 1, 2010 330 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a dark reddish brown with tiny off-white cap. Nose of dark fruit, chocolate and caramel malt. Taste has lots of caramel and sweet chocolate, light oakiness. Slight bitterness in finish. Decent. humulushound (142), British Columbia, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 1, 2010 Beautiful deep auburn color with some ruby highlights, soapy head dissipates quickly with little residual lacing. Aroma is vanilla, wood, caramel, earth, hints of piney hops. Flavor is bold, sweet, oaky, warming alcohol finish. Palate is oily with a medium body and fairly large bubbles. I enjoyed this much more than the regular oak aged beer from Innis and Gunn which I found to have some skunk......So please Innis and Gunn bottle in brown so your beer tastes better. fredthecat (210), Canada

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 23, 2009 Rich mahogany in colour, thin but lasting off-white head, light lacing.
Aroma doesn’t have the usual butter that I come to expect in Innis & Gunn beers, some caramel and chocolate malts, moderate sweetness.
Flavour is quite sweet, lots of caramel, light chocolate, some malts, mild alcohol.
Very sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, mild carbonation.
Finishes quite sweet, lingering.
Finally an Innis & Gunn beer that didn’t have the butter. Ridiculously sweet though.
330ml bottle purchased from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario.
Opened on December 5, 2009.
Best before December 2010. Boutip (2408), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Bottle: Poured a clear deep mahogany color ale with a small foamy head with average retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light oak and some lightly sweet malt is more timid then I had expected. Taste is also more thin then expected with some light oak notes and a English caramel malt base with very little character. Body is a bit thin thought creamy texture was enjoyable with some good carbonation. I was expecting a lot more oak based on the description and prior beer tasted from this brewer. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 21, 2009 Bottle. Again with the fancy over-packaging.... This pours a clear dark amber with a golden thick frothy head. Aroma has chocolate, caramel, banana, and vanilla (made me think of a dunkelweiss or weizenbock). Palate is more woody/earthy chocolate and caramel, with a subtle spiciness. The oak-beer balance is nicely done here, although for a 7+% ABV this comes across as a little thin.
