Body , Flavour , Palate and Final Notes: medium bodied. Caramel with woody cam fire smoke , hint of candy sugars , pine wood , cask feel oh oak wood. Quiet drinkable German smoked brews with fruit ale feel treated on cask character. I like the thinking of brew master that formulated this ale . Bravo!

Bottle purchased at the LCBO. Pours a very dark copper colour, with an off tan head which recedes to a thin layer/ ring. Some spotty lacing here and there. Aroma is sweet and woody (oak I’m assuming). Some maple syrup too maybe? Tastes sweet and of maple syrup, tart, bitter (but not very). Some vanilla creaminess on the back end.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 RD400F (101) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 27, 2011
UPDATED: JUN 28, 2011 Beer into Chimay trappist glass...
Aroma: rubbing alcohol, oak, toffee, caramel, a little sour and kinda floral.
Appearance: Disappointing. Head which went poof in a second which was off-putting. Beer is a super clear burnt orange/amber/red.
Taste: Pretty fine, and that matters along with palate the most. Toffee is quite evident along with oak, booze and a slightly hoppy finish. Quite well balanced however.
Palate: Thin, co2 is not overbearing, nothing negative to note, but not outstanding. It’s very smooth.
Overall: Nice beer, I like it. I thought this was kinda bottom end, but no, it’s actually pretty good! Compared to a can of Holsten Festbock pisswater, this is amazing. Recommended.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Metalchopz (1751) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 17, 2012
Purchased at the LCBO in a single box. Pours an amber colour with little transparent flakies floating around. Off-white head that stays a while and minimal lacing. A nice nose of fruits over caramel and butterscotch. No alcohol felt for a 8.3% ABV brew with no burning. Quite smooth and almost creamy-oily. Again, the caramel is in the taste with fruit, like raisins. I do not sense the bourbon barrels influence. Very easy to drink and nicely blended between the sweet sugars and the tasty fruits.

330ml clear bottle, boxed. Clear golden/amber coloured brew with a big white head which fades to a long lasting ring. Very sparse lacing. Nose has some hops, sweet malt character, caramel and whisky notes. Flavour has big caramel start, mellow malt middle, finishes with vanilla, light booze/bourbon and woody notes. Hint of citrus hops in the finish and faint smokiness. Medium body, light carbonation, pretty smooth in the mouth. A pleasant surprise, a lot of these I&G beers are hit and miss. Would be happy to drink this one again.

This "Canada Day" ale claims be an "oak-aged scottish ale" on the packaging.... Ruby-amber body with tanned airy and creamy top. The bouquet is composed of finely crafted oak massaged into an amber sugar malt body. There is a delightful woodsyness of oak-barrel breath. A clean oak profile throughout. The flaovr reminds me of a pleasant Candian whiskey. A stronger oak presence makes itself known and there again is te well apportioned woody character--this time also accompanied by soft vanillins. Well-crafted and nuanced. Not very scotch ale-like--more of a Canadian Whiskey ale.
