COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This special beer has been brewed using Munich malt and golden oats to give it a beautiful biscuit backbone and a creamy smooth finish. Fuggles hops add their signature earthy and rich character before maturation in bourbon oak unlocks delicious flavours of vanilla and toffee from deep inside the oak grain. Available exclusively in all provinces of Canada (except Quebec and PEI).

Bottle saved from the light in a cardboard box with Canadian art. Dark amber with light froth. Aroma of dark toffee with hints of oak, coffee and chocolate. Flavour seems light at the front but then big dark toffee and alcohol hits the back of the palate and holds in the aftertaste. Could be a desert beer as it reminds me of an alcohol and toffee addition to ice cream. Initially I would pan it but that back end keeps getting more addictive. Very interesting. Happy early Canada Day to me!

Deep amber golden pour. The nose is fairly caramelly and toasty. Lots of soft vanilla and toffee over a light sweet brown sugar backbone. The beer isn’t terribly sweet, but it has a lot of malt components in it. A little bit of woody character in this one with a touch of peppery alcohol (had no idea it was 8.3 before I started drinking it). Very oaky with only a bit of biscuit malt backing it up - lots of bourbon character. It’s decent, but kind of a simple brew.

33cl bottle. Pours amber with a decent head. The nose has ginger nut biscuits and crystalized oranges and muscavado sugar. The taste has ginger, oranges, The palate is medium bodied, good texture and a reasonably clean finish which is persistent. Overall, this is their best effort so far.

[4036-20111023] 330mL clear bottle. Maple caramel and mild mould wood aroma. Clear, amber brown body with a quick foamy white head. Sweet caramel wood flavour hints at spicy turkey whiskey malt. Medium body. Interesting. (6/3/7/3/15) 3.4

Brilliantly clear! Aroma has complex malt with subtle oak and bourbon aromas there as well. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with plenty of the oak flavour coming through. Finishes slightly sweet, certainly malt forward.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2011 In bottle; great beer ... notes of vanilla and toffee. Nice body to it ... much better than I expected it to be (wish it was available all year)

341ml bottle pours amber in color with a finger of white head that settles quickly leaveing only a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and whiskey with hints of oak and vanilla. Taste is a caramel malty sweetness with hints of whiskey and oak and an earthy hoppy bitter finish. Medium body and light carbonation. Overall, a pleasing ale but could use a bit more hops to better manage the malty sweetness.

Clear amber beer, good off white head. Softish and semi dry palate. Semi sweet beer! Soft vanilla wood. A little orange. Super subtle bourbon. Dry soft finish. Not bad at all!
