COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We are pleased to present this special Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Beer bottled to celebrate Canada Day 2012.
Alongside ale malt we added Aromatic Barley Malt with imparts the beer’s rich toffee colour and satisfying maltiness. We used Goldings hops from 3 farms in East Kent to impart a delicate balancing bitterness and a fruity twist. We then slowly oak matured the beer to unlock the delicious flavours of vanilla and toffee locked inside the oak grain, only bottling it when we deemed it to have matured to perfection.

330 ml bottle. I enjoyed the 2012 edition much more than the 2011. Reminded me more of the old Canada cask. Aroma and taste of oak, vanilla and whiskey are nicely balanced with becoming too sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from BC Liquor Store
Nice amber color with copper hue; medium sized compact head. Light aroma of caramel. Medium body, pleasant but simple toffee flavor, some toasted notes, some sweet wood, oak; the bitterness is quite low.
As many other Innis & Gunn beers, not bad, but inoffensive.

Bottle from LCBO. Beautiful clear deep ruby brown, with pretty much no head. Aroma of fruit punch, oak, and toffee. Taste is some fruit, lots of oak, some alcohol, and a mildly bitter finish.

330 mL bottle. Pours a rich mahogany with a medium tan head, lots of lacing. Great on the nose, aromas of yeast, vanilla, rum, raisin, spice and toffee. Taste is big sweet malt in the forefront. Mellows out to a creamy woody finish, not a lot in the way of hops. Thick on the palate medium carbonation and full body, lots of texture. Another good special edition from I&G, now if only I had a steak and kidney pie to wash this down with.

The pour: a warm honey brown or amber in colour with a white head that dissipates to a ring. The aroma: Quite a bit more malt notes that typical of I&G, with strong notes of toffee and caramel, some faint notes of vanilla and woodiness round out the bouquet. The taste: a medium-heavy sweetness with syrupy mouth feel. Fairly well balanced but could of had a bit more bitterness, the alcohol did help bring everything together. The verdict: overall it would be worth while to stock up on a few bottles as the flavour is distinct and the beer smooth and easy-drinking.

Rich aroma of caramel malt and oak. Amber colour with a frothy white head and lace. Syrupy texture with a maple syrup and whiskey flavour. Slight roasted malt with a smooth finish.

Really enjoyed this. Pours a dark reddish brown. Creamy head. Smells a bit funky, also some scotch, wood and caramel. Smooth and creamy palate. Boozy, caramel, woody flavours. Yum.

Bottle from Utobeer Market Stall. Dark reddish amber brown colour, not much head. Caramel malt aroma. Rum, vanilla & caramel flavour. Quite smooth with sweet aftertaste. Decent for this beer style.
