COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
2009 version brewed to a different recipe and with a higher alcohol level 7.7% vs. 6.4% of the 2006/2007 version). Included in an Innis & Gunn gift pack released to the Canadian market for fall/winter 2009. From the label: "The unique flavour of IPA originated in the 1800s during long sea journeys on the trade routes between Britain and India. Beers were transported in oak barrels containing hops, which preserved freshness, and arrived having absorbed the character of both the oak and the hops. We are delighted to present this Limited Bottling of IPA which has been oak aged with the addition of large quantities of fresh hops giving this beer a burst of orange aromas and a zesty fruity character."

Bottled. A golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel, wood, hops, and citrus. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, butter, straw, oranges, and wood, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks Joergen for sharing.

(bottle, 33cl, 7.7% abv) Clear, golden colour with a blond and short foamy head. Moderately sweet and slightly fruity (citrus, pineapples) aroma with a touch of persipan and distinctive notes of toasted oak/vanilla. Moderately sweet and mildly bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Caramelly and buttery malty taste with mildly fruity notes and vanilla; sweet, slightly bitter and warming finish with vanilla in the aftertaste. Finally an interesting brew, but in general I prefer aromatic hops in my IPA. 24.III.11

Bottle. Golden with a white foam. Aromas are caramel malts with woody notes and soft spices. Vanilla with citrus. Flavours are sweet caramel with dry, woody aspects and a lightly bitter and peppery alcohol finish. A bit rough. I’m not a fan of these brews.

Clear Bottle 330 ml
Appearance: pours as nice golden amber brew with rather large fie creamy , foamy crown 4-
Nose: musky nose , hint of butter cream with soft grassy aromas , bit mineral as follow up.
Flavor/Palate : mid bodied. Nutty malty frontal with raw bitterness followed by caskey oak character, light alcohol dryness at finish. Quiet sweet feel in general with bitter leafy feel at finish. More taste bitering hop than aromatic ones. Softer late finish with smooth long warmth at end.

Bottle ( 330ml ). Clear pale amber, average sticky foamy off-white head - nice small lacing. Pungent aroma, starts skunky, settles to funky/acidic grassy euro hops, dry and peaty. The taste is mostly sweet vanilla/ green oak resin, very light grassiness and a hint of cereal grain - a little too oaky. Slick, smooth mouthfeel, a touch astringent, front tongue stillness and back-palate liveliness, with a somewhat boozy, tannic finish. Interesting, not all that well blended/balanced.
