Pours very dark brown, bordering on black. Almost zero head. Aromas of raisins, cherries, molasses and brown sugar. Very crisp mouthful for something billed as a stout. Some tastes of red fruit peels, and bitter dark chocolate. Not as sweet as it smells. Overall I liked this much better on tap, than this 330 ml bottle I am currently drinking which feels muted in comparison.

Pours a black-brown color with a nice tan head that settles off fairly quick. Subtle aroma of roast malt and wood. Flavor is smooth and roasty but clean with a rounded whiskey and wood subtlety; also there are some noticeable off banana notes that I am convinced a part of the clear-bottled habit of this brand. I would love to try this on tap (or not out of a clear bottle) to see if the flavors change. Still, a good tasting beer.

Clear 330ml bottle into a Gordonís thistle shaped glass on 9th May 2014. Labelled as íIrish Whiskey Finishí, sure itís the same beer though. Looked good: black with a large and lasting tan head. I got more over roasted maltiness in the aroma and taste than any whiskey/whisky notes, Irish or not. A decent enough Stout, even if the hype and labelling suggests something more. Bitter Dark Chocolate with Coffee notes helped the enjoyment of the beer. One of I&Gís better offerings.

A different twist on a stout but Iím not sure if it fully works. Excellent opaque pour w/ a tan head that leaves a nice ring of lacing. The aroma is soft w/ the whiskey notes standing out. The taste is stout like for the first 3/4 of the beer. Itís soft on the palate until the whiskey really stands out in the finish making this a different type of stout. While I appreciate the originality, itís not one the top stouts Iíve come across.

Bottle. A little whiskey, nice light malt, coffee, and toast. Palate is dry and with a medium body. this is a nice beer that goes down very easy.

Dark brown with tan head. Slightly too sweet for me. Caramel notes. Very short. Preferable to the original and rum finish versions.

As another reviewer said it pours a bit like cola. I find this beer a little disappointing and I am rather fond of me stout. Itís not bad by any stretch of the imagination but I just dont find that the flavours work together all that well. Dark fruit, slightly smokey and sweet. Certainly drinkable but Iím not sure if I will go for it again.

Aroma: High malt, dark fruit, sweet, roasty, woody, whisky, Appearance: Clear, very dark copper body. Large light-brown, fizzy head. Good retention. Flavour: Medium bitterness, medium-light sweetness. Light alcohol warming. Medium amltiness, rich, caramel, dark fruit, whisky, roasty, woody, Palate: Medium-light body. Creamy carbonation.Medium warmth, dry finish, slight burn on the tongue. Overall: A bit harsh. A good end of the evening beer, but not my favourite. 330 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre! 13D. Foreign Extra Stout (oak aged)

330ml bottle - Thanks Chris! Deep port red in colour with a thick pale buff head. Strong malt aroma with fragrant vanilla pod long on the nose. Thin oily mouthfeel and no lacing. Dark malts give a rich maltloaf base with syrupy raisin fruit, black cherry, vanilla and a hint of nutmeg. There is a slight dry earthy note to the hop resins but this fades fast in the short aftertaste. Finish is malty with a mild boozy warmth of Whiskey - but not as evident as the Rum cask in flavour though. Sweet notes of liquorice and marzipan follow through in the malty backbone with smooth vanilla always present in the palate. The 7.4% is very well hidden in this excellent stout and is so easy to down it quickly. Highly recommended and my second favourite to the Treacle Porter.

Pours out of the bottle like a cola. Thin burnt sugar cap, ruby highlights when raised to the light. A brisk stout: more carbonation than expected, a sweet dimension & a ever so slight twang of the whiskey barrel. Milder than expected --almost watery -- especially with the 7.4% & barrel aging.
