3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours the colour of molasses with a thick creamy tan head. Smells of coffee, chocolate cookies and plums. Gorgeous flavour, dark fruits mixed with pumpernickel bread, chewy toffee like textures, moderate carbonation and a long, sweetish finish. A little bit mouth coating afterwards which Iím not sure I like, some more bitterness to lift the thickness would be desirable. Lovely flavours and aromas though.

330ml bottle into an Innis & Gunn tulip.
Pours pitch black with a barely one finger tan head that fades away not too long after the pour. A little lacing clings to the sides of the glass.
The aroma is quite weak which took me a little by suprise. Some cocoa powder along with a touch of smoke and the Innis and Gunn yeast character that is present in all of their beers.
The flavor somewhat redeems the lack of aroma as there is a good deal going on. Cocoa is abundant transitioning into some darker chocolate. A little bit of peat smoke is buried deep in the background and i can definitely pick up the cereal grain flavor of irish whiskey although it is quite faint. A touch of clove and wood finishing out with a slightly sticky finish.
Overall, one of the better beers I have had from this brewery although it is still fairly lackluster. It is a decent stout but definitely not worth the steep price tag.

Clear glass bottle, kinda wish theyíd mention where the barrels came from on the label instead of leading on. Nose is heavy roasty stout with thick ash and tar, really inviting despite the presumed high level of sweetness. Cola-colored to pitch with a light brown head. Taste is sweet but not yet cloying, creamy medium-full mouthfeel, a little lactose and cream, gentle slow-moving warmth and slight oak, slick malted milk balls and faintest hop prickling. Very mild fruitiness; I like the creamy, milky flavor but was disappointed not to find any of the rougher, tougher stouty character that burst out of the bottle neck. Whisky contribution is there but not exaggerated, and the result is quite smooth and enjoyable.

Unfortunately drank after a few bites of curry. Aroma of coffee malts and caramel. Start sweet caramel, smooth. Middle gentle whiskey, end coffee and caramel with a bit of barley hops Iím aftertaste. Smooth for the whiskey. Sweet.

Lite rauchbier-känsla. Kaffe och rök. Fel årstid för det här nu och inte är det speciellt mycket att hurra för heller

Pint on tap at Tap House. Clear dark brown / red color. Good thin khaki head, decent retention. Little lace. Medium-plus body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Light whiskey cask influence, but itís noticeable, and adds a nice interesting twist to the stout. Maybe just a light bit of vanilla, along with the light chocolate flavor in the stout. More sweet taste, light bitter sweet. The beer is light enough in general that you donít get a whiskey-bite, which is cool. Itís still smooth -- more easy drinking than Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, for example
