Medium brown coarseish head doesn’t last. Barely translucent clear deep dark red body. Faint roasty toffee aroma with vague chocolatey notes. Sweet perfumy vanilla toffee taste with chocolatey notes. Mid-to-light body. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish chocolatey perfumy aftertaste with butterscotch notes. Perfumy and candy-like, but still very delicate and harmonic. I quite like it. (0.33l bottle, Alko Arkadia, Helsinki.)

Bottle. Roasted aroma, not so casky. Black colour. Small tan head. The flavour is creamy and mildly roasted. A little coffee and a faint hint of vanilla. Gets a little fruity in the finish. Does not taste of extreme barrel, but subtly.

Sigmund (5179) - Tau, NORWAY - MAY 11, 2012
Sample at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Very dark brown colour. Moderate aroma of whisky cask and caramel. Rich and fairly sweet flavour, whisky cask and caramel again, but the hops are far too moderate for my taste..

Papsoe (25085) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 11, 2012
Bottle 33 cl. Pours a very dark brown with a warm reddish hue and a small, beige head. Roasty nose, pruney with a little yeasty phenols. Medium body, sweet overripe fruit and again some damned phenols from that yeast. Only a subtle hint of wood or whiskey. 110512

HeistAlmighty (1127) - Saint John, New Brunswick, CANADA - MAY 9, 2012
330ml bottle. Beer looks black in the bottle, but has red undertones when held up to the light. Very thin off white head. Aroma is roasted malt, Irish whiskey and vanilla. Taste blends dark chocolate roasted malt with whiskey and wood. Slight earthy bitterness, cola and vanilla notes. Palate was appropriately smooth and full. Overall, when I&Gs aging gimmick works, it works well and this time it came off really flavourful and enjoyable.

Nja, det här är väl kanske inte deras bästa öl. Smaken är spretig och sticker åt alla håll med sötman, maltigheten och smaken av jord. Slutsats: nja, det här var ingen favorit.

maneliquor (3152) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAY 3, 2012
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours very dark brown with a small off white head on top which stays and leaves solild lacing. Nose is predominately chocolate and roasted malts. Not a lot going on. As it warms some faint ’Jameson’ like notes come out. Taste is rather pleasant. Chocolate with a roasted core and a light finish of irish whiskey - you know the kind that has no harshness and that touch of sweet vanilla behind it all to finish things off. Medium mouth feel with soft carbonation. not too bad. Much better than I was expecting

Dark ruby with vanilla and toffee apple on the nose. Quite highly carbonated with more toffee apple, sweet caramel, chocolate. Lingering sweet finish. Pretty well done.

Sweet dark robust malt aroma with a light amount of wood. Black color with a large brown head. Sweet with a light bitterness throughout with the perfect balance.
