3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 thb (609) - Alberta, - APR 6, 2012What is a scottish stout? Anyway, a lovely looking bottle as always (I’m a fan of their labels, if not the overblown piffle they write on them). Beer pours dark, dark brown. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, oak. Taste is sweet, woodsy. Vanilla and bitterness lingers through the finish. A perfectly enjoyable beer but pales in comparison to the "nectar of the gods" that the box would suggest it is...

Astonishingly subtle throughout with malty / whisky notes coming and going. Probably my favorite I&G
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ontbeermaker (1832) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 4, 2013
Bottle and Tap, the pour black, the aroma is roasty and woody, the flavour is pretty smooth and it was enjoyable and a decent stout.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jorn69 (41) - Ängelholm, SWEDEN - MAY 4, 2013
@ Havregatan. Flaska från Systembolaget (25:-). Mörkbrun, nästan svart färg. Lite choklad, lite lakrits och så whisky förstås i smaken. Medelfyllig.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 coolpop (1163) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Bottle. Poured medium amber with a smallish white head. Aroma was whiskey, some vanilla, toffee. Flavor was moderately malty. Good bit of toffee. Wood, vanilla, and moderate whiskey. Actually quite nicely balanced. Not too boozy. Soft carbonation, slightly creamy on the tongue.

Black with lacy tan head; aroma of chocolate; Flava is dry hops and malty citrus; feels liquids smooth and sleek with hint of bourbon; finishes light and malty
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Bendrixian (677) - Halifax, Nova Scotia, CANADA - MAY 2, 2013
Light black colour with a tan head that disappears quickly. muted aroma but there is a hint of peat and roast. More roasty/charcoal notes on the palate that I expected but this is a good thing, sweet caramel as well. Overall an excellent breakfast beer, which is when I had it first. One of their better brews for sure.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 sulawang (408) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 1, 2013
pours dark almost black-very dark brown with a small dissipating head, ringed retention and runny lacing. Med-dark malts, roast coffee and oak on the nose.
Attack: crisp foamy-tingly 6/10-sweetness
Mid-palate: STRONG caramel malts, cola, coffee, hints of orange sweetness
Finish: warming lingering light-med more sweet than bitter finish
This one is a nice balance of sweet, rich, maltiness and bitterness from the first sip to the last. Quite enjoyable and I prefer this to the original.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 pdx77 (338) - Oregon, USA - APR 29, 2013
On draught at Todd English P.U.B. Deep dark with dark brown head. Whiskey and chocolate aroma. Sweet chocolate taste with caramel, liquor, and oakiness. Seems more alcoholic than it is.

Pours a beautiful dark brown from the bottle. Subtle aroma, and not what you would expect on the palate. Superb!

Pretty weird scent that is reminiscent of a steakhouse. The taste is quite sweet and slightly smoky with almost no bitterness. Way too light, I think for being a stout.
