Dark brown pour. Quarter inch head. Mild aroma of malt. Smooth chocolate taste with a hint of whiskey finish. Really enjoyed. Would drink again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Surprisingly mediocre. I had stopped rating for a long time, but the most recent Innis & Gunn offerings were so bad that I started rating again as a warning. This makes a great "bad example" beer, and example of how not to do something. Aging a stout in used Irish Whiskey barrels is a great idea. Throwing oak chips in to get an oak taste in a hurry is a terrible idea. This tastes too sweet, too chemically, and is just a bad beer. Not drain pour like the toasted oak IPA, but pretty awful nonetheless.

Scopey (9382) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 30, 2015
Bottle at Counting House. It pours cloudy near black with a thick light tan head. The nose is bitter -sweet, decent roast, light smoke, wood, treacle, honeycomb, light vanilla, toasted coconut and nougat. The taste is smooth, bitter - sweet, sweet roast, cocoa, nougat, honeycomb, bounty bar, spicy whisky and alcohol boost with a sticky - sweet finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Probably one of their better beers, but too sweet for me!

Bottle (11.2oz $3). Dark red brown with small head. Somewhat sweet smell. Tasted roasty and sweet like scotch ale with light whiskey taste. Seemed like lighter body than most stouts.

Pours quite light for a stout. Creamy head tends to dissipate quickly. Hints of whisky barrel in the bouquet. Nice soft mouth feel with upfront sweetness. Alcohol comes mid palate but doesn't overpower. Long creamy finish with sweet oakiness and vanilla. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of whiskey, oak, cocoa, light fruitiness and a hint of coffee. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flvors of cocoa, oak, roastiness and light whiskey with a smooth lingering cocoa finish.

Aroma: Roasted malt with caramel. Flavour: Sweet dark berries and caramel with roaste malt and a dirtlike finish with notes of whiskey. Colour: Dark reddish brown with an offwhite head. From: Salling Århus beer festival Mar. 2015

Nästan kolsvart med lite orangefärgat skum. Doftar kaffe och karamell. Smaken omedelbart söt, nästa för söt. Eftersmaken ganska lång med smak av melass.

Bottle from Tesco, Prestwich. Black, no head. Has an interesting sweetened nose with a very light whisky influence, some soapiness, but appealing. Has a similar taste akin to the dandelion and burdock pop drink. Certainly mild for a stout.

Nate (3827) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 10, 2015
On tap at Twisted Jimmys. Very mild nose, light roast with some oak and whiskey vapors but pretty tame. Dark black clear with thin head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Mild stout with good whiskey and oak notes. Light roast with mild oily sweet finish.

Dark brown reddish tinge. Small tan head - mainly rim and wet lacing - that disappears. Aroma is oaky malt with mild chocolate and coffee. Taste follows suits but is quite tangy and a bit sweet (treacle?). More coffee and amped smoky oak notes and mild closing bitterness. Moist mouthfeel with very low carbonation. Unique but there are better stouts out there.
