3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
March 17, 2013; 7.4% abv, 650 mL, tulip
Nice dark chocolate and coffee aromas. Some cherry tartness cuts through the roasted flavours. Whiskey malts and vanilla also make it in there. Dark used motor oil colour with deep tan head of about 1 inch. Shrinks down pretty fast but leacves nice lace. Roast chocolate and coffee dominate with some light acidity. Booze kicks in with nice sweet whiskey flavours - nutmeg, smoke, sweet jerky, vanilla, other spices of some sort. Smooth milky mouthfeel and sharp carbonation lets your swirl this in your mouth a bit. This is surprisingly good. The sweetness, booze, and whiskey flavours makes this pretty enjoyable.

Drank from bottle. The aroma of this beer is a little off-putting with the heavy skunky smell it has. The taste of this beer however is quite good. I taste Irish whiskey, chocolate, vanilla, and oak. Beer is a little sweet with a good mouth feel.

Dark brown coffee color withy thin brown head. The smell is not bad, with a touch of whiskey and coffee. The taste is ok, it is just not exactly my kind of beer, but sometimes I can appreciate this dark whiskey creamy sweet coffee taste. For a kind if beer I don't like specially so would give it a good overall

Flaska från SB.
På gränsen till kolsvart i glaset med en kraftig gräddig krona.
Doftar kaffe, rostad karamell, hittar ingen whiskyton dock.
Ganska klen stout i smaken, kaffe och bränt som dör ut fort. Låg beska.
Nej, Innis & Gunn har inte övertygat mig alls ännu med någon av sina öl.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Standard oaky Innis &Gunn aroma on this beer. I’m not sure I could ever tell these kinds of beer apart. Maybe a little deeper in malt aroma. Appearance is a decent deep black. Quite bitter taste with a real whiskey finish. It could be the alcohol in the beer itself, but there is also a big alcohol taste from the whiskey barrel. Not a real great beer.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours dark brown, crystal clear with ruby highlights and a low tan head. Aroma light roasted malt, vanilla, some whiskey notes. Light in body, a little watery, medium carbonation. Flavor is light roasted malt, vanilla, whisky, some light coffee. Overall too thin and not roasty enough to be a stout.

Bottle. Think this is the first stout that I have tried from this company. Dark and smooth with an unusual slightly smoked wooden taste. A good one that I would recommend.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle. Pours dark brown with some copper highlights, thick tan head decent lacing. Aromas of roast malt, oak, vanilla, cherry. Taste initially really leaves you wanting it?s quite flat. Roasted malts, more like burnt malt really... finish leaves a roasted taste in the mouth. To me this is a disappointing beer...

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
pours almost black with a fluffy light tan head. nice lacing and retention. Aroma is roasted malts, vanilla, oak, and some cherries. Taste is kind of watery, Roasted malt, some whiskey like character but not alot. A bit of oaky notes. mouthfeel lacking, flat and watery. Not the best innis and gunn out there.

Sample at Systembolaget tasting. Sweet smell with buttery note and some gele candy and similar sweets. Some whisky in the taste and hard roasted bread. Not very smooth. Feels unbalanced. Better then most other I&G beers but nothing for me.
