Helsdon (248) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 15, 2015
Very nearly, just, but not quite opaque that’s a very dark mahogany, with a little tan head that reduces to a ring in moments. The nose is whiskey with a little booze and mild roasted malts. The taste is similar to the nose - whiskey and vanilla. The roasted malt is surprisingly sweeter than I expected. The oak is firmly there. Not a challenging beer, but a tasty one.

12 oz bottle. Inky black pour with minimal head and no lacing on glass. Only alcohol and a faint whiskey scent on the nose. Smoky flavor forward followed by coffee and the whiskey. Full mouthfeel with slight acrid flavor. Warm finish due to the alcohol content. Wonderfully complex whiskey stout.

Bottle 33 cl from Systembolaget. Dark with a beige head. Rum, roast, raisins, fruity, quite sweet, coca cola. Medium body, medium carbonation, sweet finish. A bit too sweet for me. Reminds me of rum and coke?

While it’s hard for me to think of this as a stout, it was a good beer. On the sweet side but not overwhelmingly. Nice whiskey notes in the finish. Smooth drink with a soft finish.

19.12.2014. Dark brown with small brown head. Aroma of oak and sweet vanilla, dark chocolate. Nice. Taste is malty with roasted malts, coffee, slight oak/whiskey. Smooth. Aroma promised more but not bad at all.
