3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
330 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.
Clear deep Cola black colour; Very thin head and light beige foam which fades in 10 seconds; Small sticky lacing and minimal carbonation; Aroma of roasted malt, with light black coffee, light chocolate, molasses, cream, faint alcohol and light grass; Pleasant sweet taste of roasted malt and molasses, with whiskey, smoke, black coffee, light chocolate, oak, light earth, light citrus and grass; Light body, thin, slick and slightly creamy palate; Mouth feel is like a bare-bone stout get oak-aged in whiskey cask. Potent sweetness and whiskey stand along with roastyness and strong smokiness. Whiskey booze is very evident in smell but not in taste. Creaminess and earthy hops are lightweights, otherwise, tastes are quite bare; Hoppiness is very light grassy nose, light earth, citrus and grass taste. Low bitterness kinda working okay but still a sweet booze finish; Wet after taste, sweet and smoky to mouth.
Comments: A different take on a stout which undergones whiskey cask treatment. The smoky whiskey character is strong at the expense of stoutís roasty and chocolaty characters. Decent, but not top stuff.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
0.33l clear bottle. Not that Iíve had a coke for the last 10 years, but this looks just like that in the glass. Dark deep brown with a nice medium dark head. Lots of dark deep sweetness on the nose. Burned sugar, dark malts, a little bit of chocolate and chocolate paper, some smoky hints and toffee. Smells quite nice actually. Doesnít taste bad either with lots of licorice, burned sugar and dark sticky malts. It has a light oily mouthfeel with a average carbonation level. Yeah, itís definitely on the sweet side but hey, itís a Innis & Gunn... Canít really sence any whiskey before I get a slightly salty licorice and smoky hint in the aftertaste. Normally not the biggest fan of this brewer, but this was not all that bad. 19.07.2013

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost black beer with a small beige head. Aroma is light sweet with some light whisky malt touches, sweet and sugary. Flavour is quite sweet with a decent amount of sweet boozy characters. Alcohol is well hidden, yet itís noticeable that this an barrel aged beer. Decent beer, lacks some complexity though.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This pours completely black with a chocolate colored head of foam that fell quickly but left lace to look at. Nose is the light sweet whiskey. Floral and with a bit of oak. Cut grass and vanilla cream. Very inviting. A dusting of cocoa. Taste follows the nose. The malt is roasty and smooth. Has a very creamy mouthfeel but very thin and soft carbonation. The whiskey flavor is light and sweet while the cocoa deepens it. The vanilla lingers in the aftertaste just a bit as the alcohol warms. There is a subtle peat that leaves with a touch of smoke.
This one is easy to drink and terribly pleasant. Has a long finish just like irish whiskey and hints at honey. The clear bottle did not do it any harm as far as I can tell but it is a seasonal so I bought it pretty early after it hit the shelf.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 ML bottle
Dark cola pour, settled dark brown. Quick layer of light brown film faded to a ringed collar. A bit better head on swirling but still fades away pretty fast.
Nose is of oak, roast, char, apple, pear, and whiskey. Slightly sweet and sticky but keeps some elements of the base beer.
Taste is more similar to Irish Whiskey. Still a bit sweet though. Let it sit a bit in the mouth and more the roast and malts come out. Lots of oak in the finish.
Sweet but dry oak finish with touches of oak and whiskey. Lighter bodied for the style I thought. Very reasonable though.
