COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Colour: Jet Black. Nose: Roasted malt, smoke and oak with a hint of fruit. Palate: A storm of flavour. Roasted malts and oak smoke combine with hints of orange zest. Underlying sweetness develops with time. Treat this one with respect. Finish: Dark and satisfying. The robust malt and island character mellows to a lingering honeyed taste with a hint of fruit. The calm after the storm. Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Beers are best served chilled.

Marsiblursi (2684) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 30, 2009
(Bottle) Pours dark brown with deep red hints. Pale nougat colored head. The aroma is oaky with notes of butter, vanilla, nutty toffee, dried fruits and smoky/tar-like whisky up front. Undertones of roasted malt, dark chocolate, cheap coffee, dark bread, straw, light caramel, dark fruits and apricot/orange-like hops. The flavour is light acidic, light to medium bitter and near medium sweet with notes of whisky, roasted wood, smoke, honey, raw fruit, mild coffee, dark bread, chocolate and orangey/apricot hops. The mouthfeel is clean/dead with an unfriendly carbonation. The finish is smoky and raw fruity alongside some dark bread. Near medium bodied.

Mette (224) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 3, 2009

(Bottle, purchased at Systembolaget) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Burnt, smoky nose with tar, liquorice, chocolate, honey and wood. Malty, roasted taste with notes of tar, liquorice, chocolate, honey and lots of wood in the finish. Medium body, not overly sweet. Not really balanced, all the smoke and tar goes a bit over board and takes over everything else. Interesting and rather tasty.
