3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 wilderthanyou (608) - Guelph, - FEB 11, 2007
UPDATED: MAR 5, 2007 You would think, twice the price as a regular innis & gunn, twice as good. Not so. I see many people did not enjoy this beer. Make no mistake, I am not one of those people. I really enjoyed this beer. Just not as good as I expected. I found the beer to have an original character, although I do not agree with the part of the description on the box which mentions hops. Of which I tasted non of. I certainly tasted the chocolate, and a whisky sorta flavor. But no hops, some light malt flavor at the end. I know, not the best reveiw, all I can say is I really enjoyed the beer but I wouldn’t spend that kind of cash on it again.
3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 GL2814 (155) - New York, New York, USA - JAN 30, 2012
Pours a beautiful ruby color with a thin beige head. The bourbon comes through both in the aroma and taste, but it is mild and not over powering. A really enjoyable beer.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Metalchopz (1429) - Quebec, CANADA - AUG 2, 2011
Originally rated February 2007. 2006 Limited Edition, limited to 40 000 bottles. Comes in a nice blue box listing it was aged 154 days. Pours a dark red colour with a bit of orange in it. The head is creamy, off-white, with excellent retention and fat lacing. Very lively carbonation that is found in great beers. The nose is a mix of dark fruits, chocolat and citrus sourness. Mildly syrupy mouthfeel. The taste is pretty mild too, definitely not showing the alcohol. Smooth taste of roasted malt, hop and oak. Nice to be one of the only places on earth to get this one, but I still prefer their normal (not limited edition) brew.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 madmitch76 (6312) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 17, 2011
27th June 2009 Purple box - 2006. Hazy dark brown beer. Crispish dry palate. The least sweet of the Innis & Gunn beer I’ve had. Sourish tangy malt. A little aged tasting chocolately malt and a dry woody undertone. Some vanilla sweetness peeps through at the end. Decent.

bourbon cask ageing definitely makes this one a winner...hops and chocolate on the nose...ruby colour...zesty hoppiness on the tongue...alas! limited edition release...should have squirreled away more.
5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 bensinep (3) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 12, 2011 does not count
The hints of whiskey in both aroma and taste make this beer a must try. Best enjoyed slowly.
2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rwgould (216) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 28, 2010
Appearance is a transparent golden red, minimal head that dissipated immediately. Aroma is peculiar and complex. Smells musty, woody, somewhat of sour cherries, but above all the term "barnyard" would describe it well. Yuck. The taste is similar to the smell, but somehow more tolerable. Faint hints of whisky and oak, also hay. It’s slightly sour, but not really bitter. It’s a bit sweet too. Palate is a bit oily. Definitely a weird beer. I may grow to like it.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 imdownthepub (7494) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 14, 2010
Bottled, 330ml from Sainsburys, Banbury. Toffee amber colour with slight white head. This version is again a little sweet with caramel, toffee flavours, then some woody, porty overnotes. The slightly extra strength adds a little character. Reasonable.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 15/20 garthicus (2089) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 31, 2009
2006 Bottle with thanks to Blankboy. Appearance: Dark and murky brown, medium white head. Aroma: Lots of caramel, malt, sugar, honey and copper. Flavour: Sharp malt, caramel again, sticky mouthfeel with alcohol, burnt toast and a long sweet malt finish. Probably one of the better Innis & Gunn brews I’ve had. Cheers Blankboy!
