COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled; Special.
NOTE: This may be a different beer to the regular Rum Cask version. This one specifically says Rum Finish and "carefully matured for 57 days" on the label.
This ruby red beer is matured over the finest rum-infused American Oak heartwood resulting in a beer with a delicious warming character that is bursting with fruit and lively spiciness. These vibrant flavours perfectly balance the beer’s toffee-malt backbone

330ml bottle, best before Sep 2012, drunk in December 2011. It is indeed ruby red. The rum treatment is immediately apparent on the nose. Quite fruity. On the palate it makes a beer that is invariably sweetish and vanilla influenced even more so. But the greater richness and depth coupled with a pleasant warming alcohol presence means it all works quite well. I’m not usually a big fan of Innis & Gunn but I rather enjoyed this one.

The best innis and gunn selection I’ve had. Nice dark brown with minimal head. Sweet malty woody smells. Toffee. Bubble gum and brown sugar flavours with a boozy rum finish. Decent beer.

Pours a amber color with little head. Nose is oak, caramel, vanilla and rum. Taste is rum and a smooth beer for its 7.2%

Nobody does aroma like Innis and Gunn. Pours a dark brown with a small disappearing carbonation. Aroma is intense oak and rum with sweet caramel. Taste is a bold slap of rum raisin and caramel toffee alcohol. It slowly fades to oak dryness.

330 ml bottle. Pours ruby colour with minimal creamy head that disappears quickly. Very pleasant aroma of rum, dark fruits, spices and some burnt sugar. Taste of vanilla, malt, sugarcane and raisins. Full bodied, lively carbonation. Vanilla finish with a hint of green tea. A fantastic beer with plenty of character.

I like beer and I like rum: hope this 57 days of barrel maturing suits me. Clear 330ml bottle, best before Nov 2012: poured into a thistle shaped ’Gordon Finest Gold’ glass in May 2012. Looks a picture in the glass: lovely deep amber body almost teak in colour, on top (at first) a well formed head of off-white bubbles. Sadly they faded to a wisp and collar far to swiftly for me. If the head had stayed the score would be a lot better. Toffee more than rum in the nose, vanilla more than oak or wood: certainly different. The taste was also toffee molasses to me, caramel next and then rum hints. The aftertaste does have rum type esters in the mix and the beer gets more ’rummy’ in all aspects as it warms in the glass. Not sure where the alcohol goes (can’t seem to find it) because this isn’t a heavy tasting brew, more a well balanced ’semi-quirky’ flavoured beer that deserves respect. The beer grew on me as the tasting progressed.

Bottle: Clear red /cobbery colur, nice creamy head. Aroma; Woody, gras! , sweet maltynes, caramelly, sugar, and some dry fruits. Flavor had a woody, vanilla, alcy mouth feeling, some dry fruits like raisins was there too. Medium body, and a nice medium vanilla fruity finish. Nice!

(33 cl bottle) Pours clear, dark copper with medium, tan head that fades quickly. Some lace. Initial aroma is a bit skunky with buttery notes followed by pleasantly smooth notes of oak and what might well be spiced rum. Medium carbonation, oily texture with a medium body and a slightly sweet finish. Taste is mildly bitter upfront with some brownsugar impressions.

Bottle. Pours Clear but so dark with red tinge, head is pale magnolia, last although thins. The nose is rum and a spiciness. The taste is a vanilla, oak and rum taste and spice fruits, general sweetness. Medium, almost light body considering the taste. The carbonation fine. A glass of ale to savour its unconventionality!

33cl bottle. Dark brown with dirty white head. Filtered. Nose : Alcohol , caramel , herbs and mountain honey notes. Tiramisu tart. Sip : Oily, low to medium density liquid. Low carbonation. Sweet and woody, alcohol taste. I confirm the tiramisu overall taste. Overall , I don’t enjoy aromatic beers. Interesting but nothing exciting.
