COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised. Special - 2004.
Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
For 30 days this sunshine coloured beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a ’marrying tun’ where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This unique process produces an exceptionally light, refreshing beer. Delicate vanilla and orange citrus aromas with hints of honey. The palate is lightly oaked with vanilla and biscuity malt combining with a light carbonation to give an exceptionally refreshing, moreish beer. Clean and malty in the finish. Recommended serving temperature: ice cold.

Bottled, filtered, 330ml. Orange amber beer with bubbly head. Light butterscotch, vanilla notes initially with a touch of wood pine. Sweet and malty, the flavour is full but not bitter refreshing. Didn’t try it ice cold.

Smells like caramel, scotch, wood, smoke. Thin mouthfeel. Tastes like sweet toffee, woody flavors and smoke. Certainly not a bad beer....just ok.

33 cl bottle @ Edinburgh hotel room.
Rated on 20110728.
Pours clear golden color with small head. Aroma of light malts, some oak notes and fruits. Flavor of vanilla, malts and wood. The oakiness doesn’t fit here at all.

341ml bottle. Pours a beautiful orange-amber with an off-white head. aroma of caramel, fruit and some vanilla. Flavours of vanilla and malt. I like that this version has more vanilla but it’s not as well balanced as the original. Overall IT’s pretty good though.

Bottle purchased at the Barton Street LCBO Hamilton Ontario. Pours a clear copperish colour. Small white head, with some decent lacing as well. The nose is really quite skunky actually. Taste however is soft and very slightly vanilla. Alcohol numbing on the tongue as well. Interesting but not Innis and Gunn’s best.

it’s really too bad that this one is no longer available...managed to find a hidden bottle on the shelves of a local LDB store...less woody than some of the other I & G offerings...smooth oak and vanilla, not too malty or hoppy...it was very refreshing when served well-chilled.

Bottle. Pours a golden blonde colour with a thin but lasting white head. Aroma of metal but with oak and vanilla. Tastes of sweet malts with oak and vanilla, with some toffee, and maybe some whiskey. Lightly hopped. Finishes with a kind of woody taste. Quite good, definitely one of the better offerings in the Innis & Gunn line...
