3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 nearbeer (2659) - Knoxville, USA - JAN 26, 2012
33 cl. poured in the I&G stem glass. Clear dark red-brown with a lasting ring of foam. Nose is nearly-scorched toffee, light orange and oak. Taste is watered-down earthy molasses, spiced orange tea, and vanilla with a hint of oak. Medium body is a little to the sweet side and has a low carbonation. Some dashes of good flavor and character in this one, but they just seem to clash and blend in to a watery, so-so beer.

Bottle of the 2011. Pours the same dark crimson brown that it is while in the clear bottle, under a rather large tanned beige head. Papery wood, a soft bit of vanilla and caramel, some smoke and burnt citrus. Medium bodied, quite sweet, but then it fades into relative emptiness. Has the same sweetness that most of the Innis and Gunn stuff has, but it’s not really offensive in any way. Smooth and easy drinking, a touch of sweetness, but not something I’d really ever crave.
