""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

the aroma is malty and oaky with shades of fruits and coconut... the taste is well-balanced, with notes of oak barrel, toffee, coconut, banana and melon... slight but noticeable hopping... spicy sweet and dry aftertaste...

"interesting brew...didnít even know what style it would fit in til just now. aroma a little hot for <7%, but pleasant notes of vanilla and oak, with mild hopping. Flavor is much the same with some toffee as well, and without the alcohol."

Bottle received as a promo, Oct. 2013. Well, Iím interviewing the brewmaster tomorrow, so I had better taste one of these. Worried about the clear bottles, but Iím guessing these Scottish brews are not hop-dependent. While they claim no more than oak aging, I have a clear whiskey note when I open the bottle, no doubt a reflection of the malt. Light Crystal amber color in glass, pours a big puffy head that last for a minute or so. And so there is a bit of whiskey in the taste, but a lighter, sweeter taste, like a whiskey and water. That would be the "toffee and vanilla" the label speaks of. Result is actually light in taste for a barrel-aged beer, but the better result of oak aging is what I get.
