""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

Dark transparent gold, weak white head. Very interesting arome - is that toffee? Unlike any beer Iíve ever tasted - but lovely nonetheless. Malty yet light taste - and thereís no way in hell I would have guessed how strong it is. Just lovely.

Tasting at Plonk. Tastes like Chardonnay! Oak and vanilla flavours surprisingly strong. Iíve never had a beer like this and was astonished. Not sure the balance is there though.

Pours a hazy dark caramel color with a light head. Aroma is lots of toffee, caramel, vanilla and oak. Very nice there. Flavor is not nearly as sweet as I expected. It still has a lot of sweetness, caramel and toffee in there and oakiness, but some hop character coming through, which was totally unexpected, but not unwelcome.

On tap at The Thistle Bar, Edinburgh. Pours lovely amber with thin veil of a head. The aroma is sweet and complex from the cask wood, with scents of apricot and peach coming through, appetizing. The taste is candied fruit, round and full in palate. Very smooth. Some subdued bitterness in the aftertaste, accomanied with some of that cask wood. A brilliant beer. A looker, stunning aroma and a smooth lovely taste that is just made for when you need to take a break from the scottish rain.

Clear yellow copper pour with a thinner white head. Caramel and vanilla aroma, some mild syrup and grassy hops as well. Similar taste with a medium dry bitter finish.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into the Innis and Gunn tulip as recommended. The appearance was a hazy golden honey color. The head was a nice half fingerís worth of white foaminess that died within about a minute and left some nice lacing in the wake. The smell had a nice woody/oaky vanilla and toffee in the front and a nice light caramel aroma entering in as it warmed. The taste was sweet and woody letting the vanilla, toffee and caramel intermingle nicely. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. Thereís a slight sessionable aspect about it. Overall, I say this was a nice English Strong Ale worthy of having again.
