""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

Clear golden color. Medium carbonation. Nice fruity aromas..bit of orange and vanilla. Almost no hop aroma. Decent sweetness, touch of bitterness. Tastes of cookies, nuts, oak, and a nice hoppy herbal finish. Very tasty. I went to store and bought another one. :)

Denne originale Innis & Gunn har et lyst udseende med et svagt hvidt skum. Øllen smager af vanilje, sød karamel og afrundes af en meget fremtrædende whisky smag. Medium karbonering.

It was one of the beer that got me into specialty beers. I felt it is good to begin with.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2015 I poured it from the bottle into a pint glass. It pours a brown and orange color with a decent white head and nice lacing. The aroma is vanilla, oak, and alcohol. The taste is pretty sweet with toffee, vanilla, oak, and honey. It is pretty sweet. I would not say too sweet though. It is pretty smooth. I think their beers are underrated.

Bottle into a snifter. Bourbon coloured with average frothy cream coloured head which lasted for a little while and did produce lacing. Aroma is subtle but complex with an unusual scent for a beer. Light caramel, or honey maybe maple syrup smell - but not sickly sweet, far too understated. Flavour is moderately sweet with long duration. Smooth is the word that came to mind whilst I drank it. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft. This is a good sipping beer.

On tap at Bag of Nails. Pours clear brownish-orange with a small white head that doesn’t last or lace. Aroma is malt and oak. Taste is sweet caramel malt, toffee, vanilla and tobacco. Not much hoppiness. Decent, but nothing to write home about.

Bottle. Clear amber to yellow color, fading white head. Intense vanilla and bourbon aroma, vanilla and toffee, reminds me of a bourbon cask aged scotch. Light taste, decent sweetness, very low bitterness, lightly sour, slightly astringent. Medium texture, average low carbonation. More vanilla and toffee in the aftertaste. My first entry into wood aged beer, very pleasant, very promising.

Birthday beer at the Rhu Cafe. Another winner from this brewery. Malty sweet start with nice hopping. The ABV is certainly there to support the maltiness. Then there is the vanilla which runs as a silky scarf around the experience. Great to see this in the Cafe.
