""""For 30 days this honey-hued beer sleeps in hand selected oak barrels, locked inside a bonded warehouse, gradually assimilating the subtle flavours that reside in the wood. Barrels are then emptied and maturation continues for a further 47 days in a marrying tun where these natural flavours infuse and fall into perfect balance. This 77-day process is unique and produces a delicious, refreshing beer: Aromas of vanilla and toffee, hints of citrus, with a malty, lightly oaked, palate. Deftly balanced and light in texture, soothing and warming in the finish.""""

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into the Innis and Gunn tulip as recommended. The appearance was a hazy golden honey color. The head was a nice half finger’s worth of white foaminess that died within about a minute and left some nice lacing in the wake. The smell had a nice woody/oaky vanilla and toffee in the front and a nice light caramel aroma entering in as it warmed. The taste was sweet and woody letting the vanilla, toffee and caramel intermingle nicely. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body. There’s a slight sessionable aspect about it. Overall, I say this was a nice English Strong Ale worthy of having again.

Bottle from Føtex, DK. Pours clear, golden orange with virtually no head. Notes of vanilla with a smooth, round palate not unlike an oak aged wine

Bottle into a Gouden Carolus glass. Gassy yellow-brown with a transient bubbly white head. Lightly woody vanilla aroma, very pleasant. Vanilla, sweet but with crisp backbone, smooth. Pretty tasty, flavoursome but ultimately it lacks a bit of kick.

0,33L bottle. Brown colour, nice and tall head. Caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, banana. Unusual and sweet flavour. A hint of cherry? Confusing beer, but very intriguing.

Bottle (330ml): clear bottle, clear copper color. This is an easy drying King Scottish ale. Fairly light.

Can bought at the LCBO in Toronto/Canada. One word: outstanding! The malt, spices, honey liquor, sweetness, even minor sweet white vine and some christmas bread in aroma and taste make this beer a jackpot for me! The mild hoppy bitter finish and refreshing character make ma want a lot more of this beer. Too bad I have only this one can and I am no longer in Canada, but back home in Slovakia/Europe, where this beer is unfortunately unavailable.

(1117-210614)

Bighead, off white vanilla 3 fingers. Spotty lacings. Clouds. Clear deep golden body. Aroma; grass, apple, leaves, catpee, oakwood. Taste; sweet malts, bread, plums, peaches, vanilla, wood oil, perfume. Smooth normal on palate. Finishes lingering bready. I never found that toffee, but Gunn’s perfume I found :( . A bit overboasted stuff. [33cl clear spec btl, abv6.6%, B@Systembolaget, T@Middelfart Fyn DK]

Aroma is caramel, oak and toffee with copper color pour with nice white head. Taste is bread, malt and butterscotch, medium-sweetness and light bitterness. Medium body, Medium carbonation, but with a creaminess and a bit of the alcohol at the finish. I really enjoyed this one.
