Thanks to a friend who split this bottle with me. We poured it into snifters and were greeted with a slight white head that sat on top of the most awesome caramel honey colored brew I have seen in a while. The whisky aroma was well present in the nose. I also got some nice woodiness and a slight fruit aromas as well. The flavor was good I got a little caramel sweetness from the malts and the barrel aging worked well with it. Hints of vanilla and some smoke came thru as it warmed.
A good brew I have had it in my hands a few time and never pulled the plug on buying it. I will the next time I see it though.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle. Pours clear golden with a white, short lasting head. Aroma has lots of toffee malts, caramel, oak, vanilla, slightly watery malts as well. Hints of sweeter whiskey. Taste has more of that sweet vanilla barrel character. A little corn, overall sweet notes. Again the watery malts, but with a decent, lingering, sweet finish. Not bad at all. Of course slightly boring body and appearance, but for the price, it’s a treat!

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Small head with minimal lacing. Slight vanilla notes with strong whiskey taste that dominates the overall profile. Not enough hops to balance overpowering alcohol taste.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Damn. Pours a lovely copper with a nice white head that dissipates but sticks around. Wonderful and simple aromas: caramel, floral hops, and dough. Taste is nearly perfectly balanced, seriously. I should rate it a ten but... perfect taste? Palate is very pleasant with a nod to the bitter. A new favorite.

J’aime bien

On tap at the Wharf Rat in Fell's Point, Baltimore, MD.
Clear amber with a thin near white head and sparse lacing.
Aroma of honey, malt, oak, vanilla and coconut.
Taste of caramel, coconut, banana, vanilla and oak.
Medium body medium/low carbonization.
I can see where this beer might have appeal, but this is just not my thing.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: Pours a clear deep copper colour with a couple fingers of white head that is gone in a flash.
Aroma: Hardcore vanilla, malt, bread
Flavours: Tons of vanilla, biscuit, hints of malt.
Mouthfeel: Moderate carbonation.
Overall: A pleasant beer but a bit on the sweet side and somewhat one dimensional. I like the idea of barrel aging but this beer needs a bit more malt and some other components. The vanilla flavours are a bit overpowering.
