COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Originally brewed at Belhaven for Innis & Gunn. Production moved to Wellpark - date unknown.
NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Bottle at Sybarite Pig. Clear bottle with a great label. Pours a hazy amber with thin head. Mild lacing throughout the tulip glass. Aroma is very nice with significant oak barrel, malts, spice and cherry. Taste is similar with spice, oak flavors, caramel malts, and buttery toffee. Very smooth finish with a soaked rum aftertaste.

Bottle. Ruby colour beer, head that quickly disapears. Aroma is of mild rum and a little toffee. The taste is toffee, a touch of vanilla and dark rum. However it is quite astringent, and I like my dark rums but this for doesn’t marry well.

Aroma of rum, fruity and vanilla. Smooth, medium mouthfeel. Not too much carbonation. Rum, vanilla, oak in the taste, very largely. Good taste. Palate could do with a bit of work. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I am an avid scotch ale, scottish ale, abbey triple and quad, barley wine, cream ale, stout drinker. I love this particular brew! The price is amazing compared to the taste. Upon pouring the bottle releases a rum and spice fragrance that makes one take in a full nose full of air. This beer sips so well but can be guzzled as well.

Pint at Doherty’s in Cary. Good aroma, Smokey. Sweet.mild roasted malts, little oaky. Peaty. Dark orangy bla k color, good initial head faced to a ring, spotty lace. Bitter sweet flavor. Lighter body, smooth creamy mouthfeel, roasty finish. Better than expecting. Nice Smokey roasty notes.

Light rum flavor. Nice head. Darker than it appears. Very light in body. Not as strong as other cast in run barrels ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Spændende øl, overrasker med oplevelser. Som navnet antyder er der en meget speciel smag af rom over denne øl.

33cl bottle at home (enjoyed as a self-confessed I&G fan with another big I&G fan). Pours a lovely deep ruby-brown with a thin white bubbly head that dissipates to light lacing. Nose is a lovely bouquet of floral aromas, oak, cherry, treacle and with a nice sharp hint of a good rum. Taste is quite bitter but with a decent sweetness and light sourness to it - a lot going on here. Decent body to it with a nice and slightly lively carbonation. Leaves a bitter finish which, as you wait, slowly comes back to that sweetness in the flavour. Very complex and absolutely delicious beer, which, despite the strength, I would happily drink a few of.
