COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Brewed by Belhaven for Innis & Gunn
Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

The single most exquisite beer I have ever tried. I joined this site solely to praise this beer. I should mention I am not a rum drinker, whisky being my drink of choice. Where has this beer been hiding all my life. I have been given a lavish selection of beers to give feedback on and would happily trade them all for a second bottle of this! Absolutely delicious.

12 oz bottle from The Beerhive in Pittsburgh. Probably lucky to have found this just sitting on the shelf at the Hive -- have to go back to get the rest of the dusty remainders. The combo of rum and beer is perfect and produces a very smooth mouth feel and swallowing. The rum is strong, but balanced, and lingers on the palate for just the right amount of time. Hurry up and get one before they’re gone!

Smells almost coffee like and malty smooth. Jonathan’s favorite, its very smooth with a lot of sweet rum flavors, and it’s not heavy or dry, it very light and refreshing.

An excellent beer, maintains the character of innis & gunn’s oak aged beer, but also picks up a strong rummy flavour. Perfectly carbonised, feel wonderful in the mouth.

Excellent and well made the rum is undeniable but not overwhelming. Plus dark but doesn’t drink that way ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sweet taste, very light and smooth. The color is a dark amber, a little darker than their original beer. I really enjoy this one, definitely becoming one of my favorites.

330ml bottle. Pours a murky dark brown, with a smallish beige head. The aroma is full of rich rum notes, with some raisin and prune overtones. There is a swift initial hops hit, soon overwhelmed by a smooth yet spicy rum flavour, which mingles fantastically with the dark toffee and caramel malts present in the finish. This is mind-blowingly good stuff. A delightful, delicious beer.

Bottle 330ml. Exceptional beer. Aromas of butter, rum, coconut, and caramel. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and long length. Palate is silky, with a full body. Red, with a frothy head.

12 ounce bottle- pours out a really beautiful auburn color with a thin white head, very attractive in a pub glass. Aroma was sweet, a quirky mix of wood and candied berries. Tastes of apples and brown sugar, very enjoyable. Mouth filling and smooth. A very nice brew with a wonderful potential, I’ll be looking for this one again.
