COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Originally brewed at Belhaven for Innis & Gunn. Production moved to Wellpark - date unknown.
NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Aroma is quite sweet with some caramel. Flavour is sweet but not overpowering. Slight rum taste. Slight dryness. Quite well balanced.

There’s very little beer here and as I only ever write about beer I’m a little stuck on what to say. In these moments I like to turn to our great colleague, beer advocate extraordinaire, Mr Hank Rollins, who said this about some of the lesser writers on here... Jealous cowards try to control. Rise above. We’re gonna rise above. They distort what they say. Rise above. We’re gonna rise above. Try and stop what we do. Rise above, when they can’t do it themselves. We are tired of your abuse. Try and stop us, it’s no use. Society’s arms of control. Rise above. We’re gonna rise above. Think they’re smart, can’t think for themselves. Rise above. We’re gonna rise above. Laugh at us behind our backs. I find satisfaction in what they lack. We are tired of your abuse. Try to stop us, it’s no use. We are born with a chance. Rise above. We’re gonna rise above. I am gonna have my chance. Rise above. We’re gonna rise above. We are tired of your abuse. Try to stop us, it’s no use. Rise above. Rise above. Rise above. We’re gonna rise above. We’re gonna rise above. We’re gonna rise above.

Deep ruby mahogany color with a pillowy light brown head. Aroma of oak, creamy vanilla and a rum sweetness. Sweet roasted malt, creamy, oaky vanilla and a light tingle of hops and alcohol. Medium to full bodied with light carbonation and a finish that is a long taste of sweet, spicy rum. Definitely not a lawnmower beer but a great sipping beer to mellow out with after a long day.

Quite bitter, was expecting more of a sweet and spicy finish from the rum finish. Great dark slightly red colour though

Somewhat subtle rum and oak cask aromas come through clearly in the flavor. The rum is actually quite present in both the nose and the taste, but the oak cask really comes through in the taste; too much so. O - recommended for fans of rum and oak aged beers.

@ Havregatan. Flaska från Systembolaget (20:-). Rödbrun färg, ganska söt, smakar lite choklad, rom och kryddor.

Very clear deep mahogany pour with an average tan head that leaves a light ring of lace. This bottle is significantly light struck. Go clear bottles! There’s a definite rummy aroma with lots of cooked fruit and wood. Surprisingly uninteresting. A little better on the palate. Lots of toffee, stewed fruit and rum but the finish is all but non-existent.

A strong aroma of fruit, caramel and pear drops, very easy on the nose. This follows through on taste with a refreshing light bitter finish. An excellent beer and superior to the blonde and original varieties from I&G that I have previously tried.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber beer with a small, quick dissappearing white head on top. Aroma is full of rum, oak and spices. I always love the smell of rum in the morning and this is full of it. Flavour is quite sweet, definitely some oaky presences as well as a very spicey background. A bit watery on the palate and the finish should have been much longer, but this is still a very good beer and a very good surpirse.
