COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Originally brewed at Belhaven for Innis & Gunn. Production moved to Wellpark - date unknown.
NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Has also been seen at 6.8% (Rum Aged)
Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Two labels on the bottle but no details about the hops and malts on the bottle but a nice bottle. A red clear beer without a head. No head and the carbonation is flat. Important: You can taste the rum in this beer. The finish is very short. Drink this beer not too cold. (I have a 0.33l bottle with batch L5247 16:04 and best-before date SEP 16)

Bottle. Reddish brown with large foamy pinkish beige head, caramel aroma, sweetish oak flavored rum taste, high carbonation, thin body, longish rum infused finish. Quite nice.

2016/03/06 - Pours a clear, amber colour with a soapy, off white head that quickly reduces to a lingering surface film and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma is cereal, caramel, light vanilla, oak, a hint of rum, apple and light raisin. Taste is caramel, oak, vanilla, rum notes, and light fruitiness. Mouthfeel is slightly thin with smooth carbonation and a drying finish. Strange (plastic?) aftertaste. Kinda bland. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2016 Bottle 330ml. Served at room temperature. Pours a clear copper with a ruby tint and a medium-sized off-white head that is mostly lasting. Aroma is sweet and earthy with notes of rum, vanilla oak, raisins, prunes, toffee, brown sugar and hints of dark cherry chocolate in the background. Flavour is smooth and sweet with a very light earthy bitterness; caramel, brown sugar, dried currants, dried cranberries, vanilla extract (light) and a lightly toasted/oak finish. Light to medium bodied with light carbonation, creamy mouthfeel and a woody finish. ABV is very well hidden. Finishes very ’thin’.

Butelka 330 ml. Ciemno bursztynowa/ribinowa barwa o ladnej wysokiej bialej pianie ktora stopniowo redukuje sie do obreczy. Aromat rumu slodowy bardzo slodki owoce orzechy. Smak bardzo lagodny swietnie zbalansowany. Slodkawy z rumowym finiszem ktory jednak nie uderza alkoholem. Swietne piwo na rozmowy w pubie.

A 330ml bottle with a best before end of March 2016 date and poured into a Duvel tulip glass. It poured a clear dark reddish copper with a slightly less than one finger tanned head that dissipated fairly quickly leaving some nice lacing. Aromas are strong vanilla, raisins and oak with hints of toffee, caramel and rum. Taste was sweet-ish rum and plum with a nice long vanilla, oak, coconut finish. There was also some hints of caramel and butterscotch in between. Medium to full bodied with light carbonation. Overall, this was nice and interesting albeit a bit vanilla heavy. I would not categorise this as an everyday drink but it’s something I wouldn’t mind trying every now and then.

330ml bottle: Appearance: Pours a clear dark amber with a tan coloured head. Head lingers for a while. Aroma: Bready, biscuit, woody, caramel notes. Taste: A hint of the oak from the barrel. Medium bitterness. Bready with hints of rum and caramel. Mouthfeel: Slick, medium body, medium carbonation. Sweet. Overall: Not too bad, however not more than a single at a sitting.
