2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a copper colour with a creamy head. The aroma is dominated by rum. The taste is rather sweet with notes of toffee, vanilla, spices but mostly rum. Some bitterness, but the finish is mostly rum. A sweetish strong ale which is not unpleasant, but rather one dimensional.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Potent woody rum aroma. Sweet with rounded mouth-feel and medium body. Fruity with lots of vanilla and some sugar. The barrel flavor dominates the beer, which is probably good as Iím not fond of the base beer. Finishes with powerful rum flavor rather than bitterness

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
My first BA scotch ale. Bottle bought in Netto market in Copenhagen.
appearance: nice copper-colored, clear however head is low and quickly disappearing
aroma: very strong aroma of oak wood cask, vanilla, raisins, slightly acidic
flavor: firstly slightly acidic, develops nicely to raisins with very pleasant long finish based on oak, vanilla and toffee notes
mouthfeel: for 6.8 abv light to medium-bodied, low-saturated, drinkable, smooth and butterish, slightly warming
In general a good and uncommon interesting beer at very reasonable price (12 DKK). Positive surprise!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a slightly ruby brown with about half a finger of head. Raisin and brown sugar with some syrup to the nose. A white raisin and brown sugar taste that ends with a molasses aftertaste. Lighter than Iíd expect from being barrel aged, but pretty good.

Very aromatic, rum dominates taste however. Beer doesnít give much of a head when poured either.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2013 sample bottle. Not too strong an aroma; I donít pick up anything until Iíve raised a lot of foam in the glass, then thereís a clear scent of run and a bit of brown sugar in the air. Lends a nice alcohol note to the nose as well. Body is brown, but well-filtered so thereís plenty of light behind. Big head of foam that settles quickly like a soda pop. Mouthfeel, like that of the previous I & G beer, is a bit watery at first. It takes a little while for that sensation of, maybe, a rum and water to fill in. And that rum does not let any oak sensation filter through. But again, it is itís own beer, whit itís own character.

3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can beer be too complex. This one might be, the balance is a little off but still a great beer. However this for me is working well with my mustard and roast beef sandwich. Iím loathe to agree with the hype of beer labels and pairing of food with beer but the slightly off balance of acidicy and sweetness is a good palate cleanser. Nice colour amazing nose but I think someone has sneaked a tot of rum into my beer giving the slightly over complex palate and taste and maybe thatís the point. Interesting beer but not amazing. Not a good feel on the toung, too gassy and light to match the flavour.
