We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

0,33l fles meegebracht uit York. Robijnrood, met een zeer snel slinkende schuimkraag. Geur en smaak kunnen mij beide niet bekoren. Komen mij gemaakt over. Als wijn die al een tijdje over het hoogtepunt heen Is. Jammer. Bier heeft wel een goede body. Niet mijn ding.

Bighead, beige 3 fingers. Crocheted laceworks. Clear ruby brown body. Aroma; grass, apple, rum, toffee, malts. Taste; grass, plums, rum, malts, nuts, chocolate, almond, grapes, oakwood oil. Nice fully on palate. Finishes lingering bready, malty, dark-fruity, chocolate saucy. Now I found pleasure, and not Gunn’s annoying perfume. Really enjoyable beer. It was a little cold at first but after pouring it warmed up a little and released a lot of great flavours.

Copper brown pour, with a medium off white head. Aroma is toffee, wood, rum. Taste is sweet, warming alcohol, toffee again. Fairly round body, slightly syrupy mouth feel. Much prefer this over the original I&G.

A golden brown ale that pours beautifully with a off white head. The real kick is in the flavor the base beer has a full body with a toffee like malt character. Add the rich oak flavor with a hint of a spiced rum and you have this beer. A excellent beer to drino alone or pair with dessert

Pours a dark mahogany golden almost no head. Nose is sweet malts and raisins and rum. Taste is kind of sweet as well with some dark fruits. Rum is very prevalent almost to much. Abv comes through strong as well.

Dark amber brown, my taste buds ain’t up to scratch today so can’t give this a proper rating, it has a pleasing mouth feel, leaves lots of lacing on glass, low carbonation, bottle at waitrose.

Reddish liquid; little, quickly diminishing white head. Aroma is strongly sugary. Medium body, alcohol well masked, low carbonation; taste is very sweet, sugary; not very complex nor intriguing.

Moderate aroma. Ruby color with not very stable foam. Quite nice lancig. There is no alcohol in the taste. Very light bitter but quite soure. Not easy to drink but tasteful.
