Originally brewed at Belhaven for Innis & Gunn. Production moved to Wellpark - date unknown.
NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

2015 BJCP Category: 33A Wood Aged Beer (base brew: 17A British Strong Ale)

AROMA: Sweet red fruits; some butterscotch essence; strong vanilla presence from the wood. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Beautiful burgundy hue; clear; CO2 visible. Large off-white foam mostly dissipates. 2/3

FLAVOR: Huge red fruit flavors, akin to fruit punch or sangria. Toffee flavor is quite prominent with butterscotch on the finish. Rum component is subtle, but noticeable and works as a nice complement to the base palette. Slightly metallic presence. 15/20

MOUTHFEEL: Body feels a little light at only medium proper. Slightly crisp, but smooth with a finish that’s probably a little too clean. No alcohol warmth. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Not quite as robust as some of the better British strong ales, though the rum component is a nice enhancement. 7/10

As Rum Aged, 6.8%. 330ml bottle into pint. Distant peppery smokiness and alcohol aroma. Crystal clear bronze beer with solid creamy head. Full-bodied and oily, smooth. Really really smooth. More subtle than I expected, buttery toffee with hints of rum in the finish. Ridiculously easy drinking. Wow!

Rubinowa, przejrzysta barwa; piana niska. Nasycenie średnie. W smaku wyczuwalny alkohol i nuty (nie wiem jak to inaczej nazwać) drewna. Nietpliwie ciekawe piwo, ale niczego nie urywa.

Bottle. Very estery, lots of ripe red apples, lots of woody vanilla. Toffee, wood, subtle pineapple. Faint rum-like notes but only in the flavour. Soft, very balanced, finishing light tannic. Very good.

6.8%ABV. English Strong Ale. Poured out clear dark mahogany. 28ºSRM. Nose is sweet and floury and for the local aroma notes, smells like red bean soup or paste, azuki. Otherwise, aromas of caramel and butterscotch describe it well enough. There is also a clear sweetness that is like a hard candy. But overall, the aroma of caramel keeps coming through, like kettle corn. Mouthfeel is watery. Palate is toasted sweet malt with pale malt sweet, in fact, very sweet all the way through, some caramel, Graham cracker and dark honey. An interesting very brief hit of spice in the very front of the palate which fades right away. The remainder of the palate is left to nutty, cracker and biscuit flavors. No hop finish.
