Originally brewed at Belhaven for Innis & Gunn. Production moved to Wellpark - date unknown.
NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

UPDATED: JUN 14, 2016 Bottle I got as a gift from Gabriel, thanks man! Pours a clear chestnut, topped by half a finger of fizzy tanned head showing average retention and leaving coarse lacing. Minimal carbonation. At first, the nose is pretty herbal but it opens up to a subtle roasted malts, toffee and dark rum. You do get some oak, but it?s pretty subtle. The taste is sweet roasted malts, toffee, nuts, rum and herbal hops. Medium-low body with a crisp carbonation. Leaves a sweet herbal finish, where that woody element in the nose comes back a bit. Very nice. Cheers!

Bottled, 330 ml. Clear amber body, medium sized broad pored off-white head. Nose of oak, malt, hints of fruits... Aroma ruled by oak escorted by caramel, dried fruits, vanilla, mouthfeel is slick to oily. Gently warming, somewhat woody, citrussy finish.

Vanilla, baking powder, banana and, indeed, rum on the nose. Taste is medium sweet; vinous notes as evidenced by a certain woodiness and dryness, malty finish. Berries and red wine in the aftertaste. Interesting beer... and good.

(Kiev 2016) 330 ml. bottle split by 2. Clear amber with an off-white head. Nose is swet bland toffee marmalade, butter and furniture. Taste is a bland vague slaw of butter, toffee, resin, oak, uninteresting bland, sweet vague toffee & butter. Meh, didn’t get it but my nephew enjoyed it a lot.

Look: Redish dark amber and clear. Medium creamy head, doesn’t last long though. Aroma: Oak, vanilla, some spicy and malty notes. Taste: Rather sweet, oaky vanilla mixed with maltines, very light bitterness on the finish. Palate: Medium body, quite creamy, some alcoholic warmth but not in excess. Overall: Nice beer, a tad too sweet for me, but that’s what I expect from scottish ales. The oak and spice notes provide a nice balance to the maltiness.

Many thanks to Eike for sharing this bottle! Smooth malty, nice wood, intense and sweetish. Wood, hints of rum, sweetish. Very dry with woody hints of rum. Interesting with a sweetish malty body.
