Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Clear dark brown color with an medium frothy white head that was mostly lasting with a good lacing. Aroma is quite sweet, roasted malt and vanilla. Flavor is sweet like aroma with some malty notes. Low carbonation and a light to medium body with a sweet finish.

Bottle. Dark brown with a weak white head. Aromas of caramel and cherries. Lots of sticky caramel flavor with a slight woody cherry finish.

Well balanced. Smells like caramel. There’s wood, cherry and vanilla in the taste. Not too sweet.

Flaska från Systembolaget. Vacker bärnstensfärgad. Väldigt söt i smaken, sötman tar över nästan helt.

thirstyrabbit (1065) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAR 12, 2014
Bottle as "Innis & Gunn Rum Finish" with 6,8% ABV. Red copper body, medium head. Aroma has vanilla, toffee and vodka. Thin mouthfeel - you can tell it’s cheap even from that. Taste has artificial rum essence and caramel syrup with sawdust. I’d rather drink some random beer with a shot of actual rum than this. Vile, vile stuff.

Amber to red pour with a dissipating white head. Aroma is sweet malt & vanilla notes. Flavor is dark fruit, brown sugar and slight rum from the aging. Finish is lingering sweetness & malt with only trace bitterness. Very surprised and happy to stumble upon this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: caramel malts, banana bread, vanilla. Appearance: dark clear amber, small creamy white head. Taste:medium sweet. Palate: medium carbonation, heavy sweets, vanilla, banana, you probably could argue some "rum" flavours, very malty. Overall: interesting beer, not bad, but not for every day. Bottle from Waitrose, England.

330 ml bottle. Pours dark reddish-brown with a small beige head, leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet, some maple syrup and honey, together with a well hidden malt backbone. A bit of alcohol. Taste reveals some delicate character - it is still a bit sweet but not syrupy any longer. It feels as a lighter version of cognac, well aged. It has some honey, caramelized fruit and a bit of warming alcohol. And yes, finish feels like rum, just as it is saying on the label. This beer is a treat, especially on a chilly winter day.
