NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

330ml bottle: Appearance: Pours a clear dark amber with a tan coloured head. Head lingers for a while. Aroma: Bready, biscuit, woody, caramel notes. Taste: A hint of the oak from the barrel. Medium bitterness. Bready with hints of rum and caramel. Mouthfeel: Slick, medium body, medium carbonation. Sweet. Overall: Not too bad, however not more than a single at a sitting.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2016 Bottle.Clear copper, head disappears momentarily with a hiss, disappointing.Aroma sweetish, fruity, slightly malty and spicy,a touch of rum,a tiniest whiff of vanilla.Taste less thick than expected ,carbonation too high at first, bitterness not perceivable, but that is not a problem.Aftertaste fruity, nutty, some rum, malts.I expected more from this beer. That is not to say this is bad stuff, just less than what I hoped for.

Mahogany body, small white head. Aroma has huge sugary butterness, rum ia present and some caramel behind the first scent. Flavour turns nutty and buttery with rum notes all over. Underlying there is layer of fruitiness. Warming and really much different things going on in the beer. Not sure if I like em all.

Bottle. A quid, from the local offy. Clear, dark copper colour. Messy, thin, pale tan head. Toffee malts. Mint rock. Vine fruits. Taste is sugary sweet. Some nasty, burnt sugar bitterness. Claggy mouthfeel. Artificial sweetener on the finish. Interesting to note the rating disparity with these beers. I’m in the, "I’m glad I only paid a quid" category.

Ale ambrée ronde à l’anglaise et rhum : du boisé de la vanille, du sucre, du biscuit, caramel. Les deux juxtaposé.Sans peu de chose d’autre.Donc assez binaire. Pas mauvais cependant.
