We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Mahogany with not much head or aroma. Clear and medium bodied with little carbonation. Rum sweetness without much malt flavor. Cloying but mild finish. Not the best this brewer has to offer.

Poured from a bottle. Dark golden and clear. Small creamy head but little lacing. Strong aroma of whiskey, but the rum flavoring comes out in the palate.

Bottled. Pours clear amber with minimal creamy head. Aromas of caramel, butterscotch and raisin. Tastes medium sweet, no bitterness or sourness, long lingering sweet finish. Dessert like which is all very well and good since at 6.8% ABV needs to be a rare treat. Palate of medium body, sticky, average carbonation, long finish.

I poured it from the bottle into a mug. It pours a deep amber to light brown color with a fluffy off-white head and little lacing. The aroma is woody with hints of dried fruit and booze. The wood aroma has an artificial quality. The taste is woody with toffee, dried fruit, and booze. It has a somewhat creamy mouth feel. As this warmed, it wasn’t great. This beer has some strong points to it. The wood aroma and taste is a little off though.

Pours a clear mahogany with a nice head. The taste is dark fruit, molasses and of course the woodsy run flavour.

Aus der Flasche, im Glas getrunken. Dunkelbraune Farbe, cremefarbiger Schaum - etwa 1cm. Malziger Geschmack mit einer feinen Rumnote und schöner buttrigkeit. Fast keine Bitterstoffe. Was im Mund bleibt ist das buttrig-caramellige.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown with a medium offwhite head. Sugary, molasses and wood on the nose, some fruityness and hints of smoke. Taste is malty with a notable touch of rum. Quite ok. Medium full body with avg co2 levels. Lingering sweet, woody rum notes.

330ml bbMAY2016, Netto DK. - thinnish, tinny caramel pour. That same artificial and young oaked vanilla pour as in the Original, slightly rummed up this time, with a hint of rumsoaked plum. Much like a diluted large batch, filtered bourbon. Simple refined caramel sugars in taste, a whiff of vanilla sugars and more Innis & Gunn polished furniture. Oddly inorganic,
