Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

12oz bottle. Poured a clear brown with a thin head. Aroma: sweet rum, malt, wood. Taste: sweet rum, muddled malt, wood, some mild spices. Thin to medium body. Overall: not a bad beer - but not well crafted. This was my 2nd beer from this brewery, and my last. In both beers the malts are just mud - I don’t know how they do it (the clear bottles?) but the malts are just a bland mess. The rum cask is the only thing that makes this interesting.

Ruddy with a minimalist head. Sugary, rummy sweet aroma, with a fruity flavor but a bit light on malts to support the flavor profile.

Bottle split with Pat and Linh, bottle courtesy of Scarlett for my birthday. Pours a clear amber body with a large foamy, creamy head. Aroma is sweet rum, and bland malts. Mouthfeel is incredibly creamy and smooth, not much flavor - as mentioned before some malts and sweet rum.

03-DEC-2010, bottle @Ulkløbben @Henrik, from Systembolaget "Boräs". Clear brown, nice off-white head. Unpleasant slightly vedgetable nose. Taste is better in the beginning but ends slightly vedgy as well... I actually like the sweet charamelly rum’y aftertaste, but hey... ...the base beer needs to be of optimal quality before barrel aging. No need to barrel age a boring beer.

Pours a fairly clear black with a thick, soapy head. The aroma is of malty vanilla. The taste is of thin-bodied bread with lots of sweet vanilla. Slightly more intense than original, but not overwhelmingly different.

The clear glass bottle freaked me out a bit, but this one’s not bad (and thankfully also not light struck). Deep amber red with a fizzy white head. Caramel, oak, vanilla, and light rum aroma and taste. Pretty good.

330ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a large head. Aroma is vanilla, fruity rum and some wood. Some Coke. Vanilla and dark fruit start. Rum and Coke in the finish with some wood. Fruity aftertaste. Different.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown with a thin white head. Rum, wood, and vanilla on the nose over soft sweet malt. Malty, toast and a light soda sweetness. Toast, rum, wood and some warming alcohol on the finish. Liked this one better than the whisky, in spite of not being a huge fan of rum. Nicely done.

Bottle. Found this in bottom of a cupboard, Best before date December 2008. Pours a deep dark red colour with a firm white head. Real deep rum aroma, the taste is light with some spice with a dry finish.
