COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Originally brewed at Belhaven for Innis & Gunn. Production moved to Wellpark - date unknown.
NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Has also been seen at 6.8% (Rum Aged)
Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Iím truly astounded by the low ratings for this beer. This beer is much darker than itís "original" counterpart and offers much more caramel flavour. However, just like the "original" it offers a strong vanilla flavour. There is a cinnamon-like spiciness on the nose and it washes down smoother than silk. All round fantastic Scottish beer which rivals many of the Brewdog creations.

Pours flat with an oily appearance and a strange colo(u)r for a beer, overdosed on caramel colouring maybe? I suppose youíve got to like rum to like this beer as itís there in the background but not overly so. Oak resin, peat & vanilla dominate. Not very well balanced, sweet and cloying. A beer concocted by market men not brewers, however I did want to like this beer and bought a couple more bottles to lay down but itís not a pleasant drinking experience for me, sorry.

pours a clear medium brown with reddish hue . nice beige head that lasts a while . aroma vanilla , toffee , fruits , sawn wood . flavour starts like the aroma with a long more bitter finish. Fairly thin watery brew for 7.4% abv . no alcohol burn . not a bad beer at all . going to keep a bottle for a year or so to see if there is any change

Poured into a glass, from a 11.2 ounce bottle. Pours a reddish amber color, small head that faded quickly. The smell of rum is very apparent, mixed with caramel and molasses. The taste is sweet, the taste of alcohol quickly fades and it finishes easily. Very light on the palate - the small amount of carbonation compliments this beer well. Overall a very nice beer - probably not for everyday consumption, but a nice surprise once in a while.

Thanks to Chipalsa for another brew. Poured a clear light brown/golden color with a small head. Aroma is light honey and caramel malts with a hint of vanilla and even some slight funk. Taste is light vanilla and caramel with a bit of bittering hops and a faint butterscotch aroma that is pleasing. Not bad.

Bottle
Appearance - Clean, amber
Aromas - Malts, honey, toffee, earthy
Taste - Butterscotch, wood, hops, fuggles

For such a light beer to be rum aged, it really did develop some character. More spices and earthy mellow tones really do this brew some good.

A pleasing nut brown Ale with a strong port fruit flavor. A little unbalanced; make sure you like port. Not much nose to it either.

Smell of malts, some candy. Dark bronze colour. Very sweet, also alcoholic sweetness. A bit of cough mixture in the finish. Some wood and leaves in the aroma, maybe a hint of tea. Soft carbonation. Oily texture. Rich in aromas and pleasant in taste.
