Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Bottle 330ml. Exceptional beer. Aromas of butter, rum, coconut, and caramel. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and long length. Palate is silky, with a full body. Red, with a frothy head.

Beautiful brilliantly clear mahogany body with a creamy light tan head. Sweet rum and smoke aroma Candy. Sweet on the front with some dryness towards the finish. There’s more complexity in the aroma than what shows up in the flavor - too bad. Medium body. Pretty bottle.

Very interesting stuff! A medium amber brew with woody and sweet vanilla aromas and flavor notes. Smoothe caramel lingering tones. Clean, light sweet finish. Very tasty!

Tämä rommitynnyrissä kypsytetty olut on tumman ruskea. Vaahtoa on niukasti. Tuoksussa on selkeästi huomattavissa rommia. Tuoksussa on myös vaniljaa, mallasta ja vivahde, joka lupaa makeutta. Makeus kontrolloi makua, mutta siinä on myös vaniljaa.

Bottle. Clear brown with thin, white head. Some sweetness and alcohol, from the rum? Quite thin otherwise but not bad at all. Smooth caramel, low on hops.

This ale poured a deep orange colour with a non-existing head. to the nose there are scents of rum & butter life savers, alcohol, caramel and cocoa. First sip was smooth and a little thin with flavours of rum, caramel and a little roasty coffee. Finish is rum & caramel.

12oz bottle. Poured a clear brown with a thin head. Aroma: sweet rum, malt, wood. Taste: sweet rum, muddled malt, wood, some mild spices. Thin to medium body. Overall: not a bad beer - but not well crafted. This was my 2nd beer from this brewery, and my last. In both beers the malts are just mud - I don’t know how they do it (the clear bottles?) but the malts are just a bland mess. The rum cask is the only thing that makes this interesting.

Ruddy with a minimalist head. Sugary, rummy sweet aroma, with a fruity flavor but a bit light on malts to support the flavor profile.

Bottle split with Pat and Linh, bottle courtesy of Scarlett for my birthday. Pours a clear amber body with a large foamy, creamy head. Aroma is sweet rum, and bland malts. Mouthfeel is incredibly creamy and smooth, not much flavor - as mentioned before some malts and sweet rum.

03-DEC-2010, bottle @Ulkløbben @Henrik, from Systembolaget "Boräs". Clear brown, nice off-white head. Unpleasant slightly vedgetable nose. Taste is better in the beginning but ends slightly vedgy as well... I actually like the sweet charamelly rum’y aftertaste, but hey... ...the base beer needs to be of optimal quality before barrel aging. No need to barrel age a boring beer.
