Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

330ml bottle poured into Leffe chalice. Dark bronze colour, hint of red, clear, no head, minimal lacing. Aroma was strong bourbon, no room for anything else. Tasted oak, rum, bourbon and a hint of vannila. Finish was long and boozy but generally the booze was well hidden. Texture was very smooth, minimal carbonation. Thickish body, slightly sticky. Nice beer for a cold day, but I don’t understand oak ageing a beer and selling it in a clear glass bottle.

Bottle on offer at Tesco. Rum taste is dominant, especially the smell. Tastes like a beer with a shot of rum in it, but probably better. Ok but would not buy at full price

Klar colafarget med fint hvitt skum. Kjenner godt eikefatene og rom i lukten sammen med en snodig duft av smør (ufrisk). Eik i smaken sammen med en tam cuba libre. gir meg en billig rusbrus følelse.

Bottle, 33cL. Alc. 6,8% Vol. Home. A sparkling dark brown with a medium white creamy head ; medium retention. Aroma of caramel, roast, fruit (prune), acid, vanilla, (light) spice. Medium sweet, light bitter and acid in the background. Light to medium body, thin oily texture, average carbonation, sweet caramel finish. Overall, a pleasant dark english ale ; smart, average character.

Clear Dark Copper Color, Big Head Dissipates Quickly, Light Spotty Lacing. Sweet Malt, Raisins With Rum Aroma. Sweet Malt, Raisins, Rum Finish. Medium Body, Average Carbonation. A Lot Smoother and More Enjoyable Than Innis & Gunn Original that I Had the Other Night. OK

Pours a copper colour with a creamy head. The aroma is dominated by rum. The taste is rather sweet with notes of toffee, vanilla, spices but mostly rum. Some bitterness, but the finish is mostly rum. A sweetish strong ale which is not unpleasant, but rather one dimensional.

Potent woody rum aroma. Sweet with rounded mouth-feel and medium body. Fruity with lots of vanilla and some sugar. The barrel flavor dominates the beer, which is probably good as I’m not fond of the base beer. Finishes with powerful rum flavor rather than bitterness

My first BA scotch ale. Bottle bought in Netto market in Copenhagen. appearance: nice copper-colored, clear however head is low and quickly disappearing aroma: very strong aroma of oak wood cask, vanilla, raisins, slightly acidic flavor: firstly slightly acidic, develops nicely to raisins with very pleasant long finish based on oak, vanilla and toffee notes mouthfeel: for 6.8 abv light to medium-bodied, low-saturated, drinkable, smooth and butterish, slightly warming In general a good and uncommon interesting beer at very reasonable price (12 DKK). Positive surprise!

naivepegasus (343) - USA - NOV 26, 2014
Pours a slightly ruby brown with about half a finger of head. Raisin and brown sugar with some syrup to the nose. A white raisin and brown sugar taste that ends with a molasses aftertaste. Lighter than I’d expect from being barrel aged, but pretty good.

Poured from bottle. A nice aroma of rum and vanilla. Mostly clear amber with minimal white head. Has a light sweet taste. Light bodied and oily texture. Has a nice aroma and appearance but the palate leaves something to be desired.
