COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Originally brewed at Belhaven for Innis & Gunn. Production moved to Wellpark - date unknown.
NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

330ml bottle poured into Leffe chalice. Dark bronze colour, hint of red, clear, no head, minimal lacing. Aroma was strong bourbon, no room for anything else. Tasted oak, rum, bourbon and a hint of vannila. Finish was long and boozy but generally the booze was well hidden. Texture was very smooth, minimal carbonation. Thickish body, slightly sticky. Nice beer for a cold day, but I don’t understand oak ageing a beer and selling it in a clear glass bottle.

Bottle, ABV 6.8. Clear deep amber color with a thin white head. Sweet aroma of caramel and syrup. Sweet taste with some bitterness. Flavors are caramel, malt and butter. Sticky feel.

Bottle from Aldi. Plenty of rum in both aroma and flavour. Taste is also quite fruity with caramel and toffee. Better than the whiskey version, but still not great.

Bottle at 6.8%. Pours clear brown with thin off-white head. Aroma is vanilla, caramel, fruity. Crisper and not as smooth than the "original" version. Fantastic with an extra mature cheddar.

33cl bottle. Maturing in oak for 60 days - that will have an effect only on first batch. Maturing every other batch will be weaker and weaker and weaker... That is the case by now - artificially flavored beer. Does not belong on the noble English Strong Ale list. For some reason it was rather revolting experience. Not my taste. Overal: Pours clear amber, with decent head. Aroma of mold. Watery, thin and tastes like sugary water. I waited till it gets warm - still the same result. Do not believe that I will dare to try it again.

Pours a clear ruby red with a slight tan head. Aroma of malt and rum. Taste is malty like a mild but with a slight rum note. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

0,33l fles meegebracht uit York. Robijnrood, met een zeer snel slinkende schuimkraag. Geur en smaak kunnen mij beide niet bekoren. Komen mij gemaakt over. Als wijn die al een tijdje over het hoogtepunt heen Is. Jammer. Bier heeft wel een goede body. Niet mijn ding.

Bighead, beige 3 fingers. Crocheted laceworks. Clear ruby brown body. Aroma; grass, apple, rum, toffee, malts. Taste; grass, plums, rum, malts, nuts, chocolate, almond, grapes, oakwood oil. Nice fully on palate. Finishes lingering bready, malty, dark-fruity, chocolate saucy. Now I found pleasure, and not Gunn’s annoying perfume. Really enjoyable beer. It was a little cold at first but after pouring it warmed up a little and released a lot of great flavours.
