Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Dark clear amber with a thick frothy, nice lacing, lasting tan head. Smells of strong malt, wood, alcohol, caramel, Spirit - Rum with some vanilla, dried fruits like plum and raisin and dried cherries. Medium to full smooth oily body with soft carbonation. Sweet malt that becomes so much more complex with the wood aged rum effect. Caramel, vanilla, dried fruit. Very rich. There is a light liquorice touch and some lingering roast on the finish. Wonder it were bottled conditioned would it age better.

Pite na wyjeździe z butelki. W zapachu migdały i nuta rumu. W smaku na początku słodkie, głównie migdały i toffi, potem pojawia się cierpka, drewnowata goryczka i nuta rumu.

Too sweet by far. Too little malt taste. Principal flavors are an excess of artificial oak.

Bottle, 6.8%. Light red brown, little carbonation and small head. Boring cheap rum molasses aromas, very sweet taste. Aftertaste like vat 69 and water.

Bottle - pours ruby with a lacy off white head. Definite hit of rum on the nose, sugary malt too. Taste is a bit unremarkable, malt, didn’t get the rum taste. Palate is on the thin side.

Aroma: woody notes, rum, alcohol. Appearance: amber color and almost no head. Taste: almost no bitterness, warming rum notes, woody, semi-sweet, caramel. Palate: medium body and medium/low carbonation, rum finish. Overall: Decent beer with some rum notes.

Quite good. A bit on the sweet side. Haven’t I’ve been a bit oversensitive on sugar, this might have been a splendid beer. But this was a bit too sweet.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Smell of butter scotch, butter popcorn and just plain butter. Similar taste, buttery with some vanilla. Also some oak and rum. Way to much diacetyl. Not drinkable. How can this get such a high score?
