Originally brewed at Belhaven for Innis & Gunn. Production moved to Wellpark - date unknown.
NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Has also been seen at 6.8% (Rum Aged)
Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Pours a dark rum colour. Aroma of spice, rum and caramel. Taste is sweet, rum, roast, oak, vanilla and spice (Ok, spiced rum then). I had this a few years back and enjoyed it alot, but now drinking it at room temperature I find it tasting abit thin, artificial and lacking a good malt backbone. Still, served quite cold it’s a decent drink and second to Innis’ & Gunn’s Original

Pour is a dark brown cola color with a average tan head. Aroma is nothing special, some molasses annd sweet brown sugar is about it,. Flavor is more like it, with a decent oak barrel. Lots of rustic wood flavor but I don’t get much of a rum flavor. Decent wood flavor but not much beyond that.

As Rum Finish at 6.8 ABV. Clear copper, dense off-white head. Stays. Caramel, oak, smoke, jam, vanilla on nose. Light to medium body. The taste follows the aroma. Somewhat empty, still well-tasting. Light bitterness. Solid but not seriously good.

Clear deep Amber colored under a thin spotty ivory head. Lovely aroma of lightly spiced rum, woody oak, dark malt and bright toasted English muffin. Crisp and delightfully playful flavor featuring deep woody and semisweet toasty malts, lightly spiced rum and a kiss of whiskey, no boozy presence though, just woody and semisweet and a kiss of English toffee and bready malts. Nice.

The beer pour clear brown with a good sized beige head. The aroma has toffee, caramel, toasty malt, plastic and sweetness. It has a medium body with a moderate amount of soft carbonation. The taste has toffee scottish ale malt, sweetness, some oak and and bit of earthy spice. This one is okay, but think I prefer the others I’ve had from this brewery better.
