We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

330ml. Bottle. English Pint Glass. Pours a dark reddish amber color. Light off-white head, which dissipated in about 1-2 minutes. A smokey, earthy, woody aroma, with dark fruit and cherry. Fruity taste, which is also smokey, earthy, and woody. Sweet flavor and character, with dark fruits, hint of cherry. Very malty with touch of chocolate and coffee. Bitter finish, with sweet malt lingering. A very nice sipping beer. Pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable and complex it was.

Bottle. Aroma is sweet like candy. This follows through in the flavor that is sweet and the aftertaste of rum. Apparently, I like my beer to be rum free and would pass on this one next time.

Ok, this one didnít come in the box... in fact, was a B1G1 at Consumers, but hey, Iím always looking for a bargain, so I grabbed 4 bottles, knowing it was a deal. I was just a tad bit disappointed with the first bottle. The flavor was nice, the pour was dark... I just, I donít know... expected more. Maybe Iíve been drinking too many heavier Belgians... this just seemed kind of lacking. But I really think thatís just where my palate is right now and not the quality of the beer. I look forward to enjoying the rest of my bargain.

The scent is almost unpleasant. The taste a little better and smoother. Very course and of course a little rum. Mediocre but drinkable.

341ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head. Aroma of malt, caramel dark fruits and maybe something slightly resembling rum. Not as good as the original. The vanilla is not very well pronounced.

Pours a dark amber with a very long lasting thin white head. Aroma of toffee, Vanilla, Oak. Tastes sweet, with a slight sourness and bitterness. After taste of oak. Overall, pretty good... but canít really taste any thing like rum.

Pours dark red, clear, nicely formed beige head with fine lacing. Malty, toffee and spicy aroma. Flavor is bready and malty, with some oak overtones. Unlike some of the bourbon aged beers I have had, I am not really getting much rum flavor. Body is a little thin, very little carbonation.

Clear bottle dark reddish amber with medium beige head. Sweet aroma with toasted malt, caramel, and rum notes. Sweetness a little like cream soda with some a rum topper.

On tap. Been putting this beer off because of the clear bottle but was lucky enough to find it on tap in Edinburgh, Scotland. Overall a very nice beer! Quite a sweet beer but has a distinctive liquorish quality... found it to be quite drinkable despite its ABV... quite impressive... would be much better if I could feel comfortable buying off the shelf in a brown bottle!
