Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Moebbels (355) - FINLAND - NOV 29, 2013
Body has a nice clear amber color with lots of bubbles clinging to the glass walls. The white head disappear quickly. Nose has loads of sweet vanilla accompanied by dark syrup and coconut notes. Taste has a boozy rummy sweetness to it with a short bitter finish. Carbonation is quite high and the palate oddly thin-feeling. The alcoholic rum-flavour is a bit overpowering but the sweet bouquet is nice.

Pours from a clear bottle with the look of root beer with a quickly dissipating head. Rum, slight raisin and oak hit hard with a lingering bit of alcohol in a full bodied taste and just slightly oily finish.

Reddish liquid; little, quickly diminishing white head. Aroma is strongly sugary. Medium body, alcohol well masked, low carbonation; taste is very sweet, sugary; not very complex nor intriguing.

Reddish brown pour. Small white head, little lacing. Aroma of caramel, malts and plum. Malted caramel taste with rum coming through at end. Very smooth transition. Good english ale.

330mL bottle from the LCBO. Pours a very dark amber with some off white head that dissipates quickly. Smell is sweet and malty, with caramel and fruity raspberry notes. Palate is medium with very little carbonation. Taste is definite dark rum, and a bit of a malty banana balance with a sweeter aftertaste.

Pours a slightly ruby brown with about half a finger of head. Raisin and brown sugar with some syrup to the nose. A white raisin and brown sugar taste that ends with a molasses aftertaste. Lighter than I’d expect from being barrel aged, but pretty good.

The scent is almost unpleasant. The taste a little better and smoother. Very course and of course a little rum. Mediocre but drinkable.
