Originally brewed at Belhaven for Innis & Gunn. Production moved to Wellpark - date unknown.
NOTE: This is the same beer as the Oak Aged Beer Rum Finish. According to Innis & Gunn "they are the same beer, the process changed slightly so we changed the name. But the recipe is the same."

Ingredients: Golden Promise and Crystal malt; Phoenix hops.
We are delighted to present this unique limited bottling of Innis & Gunn finished in oak barrels which previously contained navy rum. Maturation in special oak barrels imparts Navy rums with the sweet, spicy character for which they are renowned. We have long wondered what flavours might be imparted to our beer by finishing it in these same barrels and earlier this year we decided to find out. We brewed a special batch of Innis & Gunn beer and matured it in oak for 60 days. Every single drop spent half of that time in American oak barrels before being refilled into selected navy rum barrels to finish the lengthy maturation. Once the beer had absorbed the unique character the barrels were emptied, the beer blended and then maturation continued for a further 47 days until all of the flavours had married together and mellowed. We think the result is absolutely delicious!

Really nice ruby pour with quick rising tan foam. Aromas of grass, citrus, sweet caramel/butterscotch and dark cocoa. Lightly carbonated with predominantly sweet flavor with a light bitterness, and definite alcohol heat. Although thin bodied, has a slickness that lasts on the tongue. Astringent and mildly bitter that lingers on. You can definitely taste the dark rum character. Nicely balanced beer!

330ml bottle (6.8% version). Pours a clear, deep amber red/brown colour, with a small off-white head. Rum aroma is quite distinctive, and so is the oak, malts. Flavour is strong, rum, lightly roasted malts, wood, some fruitiness, vanilla - has a woody/rummy aftertaste. Nice beer, quite different from other strong ales.

caramel, roasty, brown, clear, minimal head, light sweetness, bitter finish. Very pleasant, would go down a treat with some aged cheddar. Distinctly different from similar ABV Belgian beers.

12 ounce bottle. No idea where I got it. Tangerine color with just a little off white foam. A nice aroma of rum, spices, fruit, and oak. The flavor brings all of that and more. Some candied fruit effects with some heat and caramel. I like this but somehow it lacks that something special to give it a higher score.

33cl bottle at home. Pours clear amber with thick, diminishing off-white head. Medium body, somehow sticky mouthfeel, average carbonation, almost no lacing. Aromas are not as intense as I would expect, but rum and dried fruits prevail. Caramel, nuts, rum, plums, raisins, with some notes of lemon sourness, resin, orange, malty sweetness on the tip of the tongue. Was finely paired with dark chocolate filled with roasted almonds. Interesting, soft, refreshing, despite that I expected more.

Mahogany with not much head or aroma. Clear and medium bodied with little carbonation. Rum sweetness without much malt flavor. Cloying but mild finish. Not the best this brewer has to offer.

Poured from a bottle. Dark golden and clear. Small creamy head but little lacing. Strong aroma of whiskey, but the rum flavoring comes out in the palate.

Bottled. Pours clear amber with minimal creamy head. Aromas of caramel, butterscotch and raisin. Tastes medium sweet, no bitterness or sourness, long lingering sweet finish. Dessert like which is all very well and good since at 6.8% ABV needs to be a rare treat. Palate of medium body, sticky, average carbonation, long finish.
