3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into the Innis and Gunn tulip.
The appearance was a nice hazy brown color with some light red tinges around the edges of the glass. There was a decent one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a million. There was a moderate amount of white foamy lacing trickling down the glass.
The smell had a nice toasted oaky vanilla to glaze over top of a light rum.
The taste was sweet and oaky along with the rum but not in an overly boozy way.
On the palate, this one sat right at medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was pretty smooth.
Overall, this was a pretty good beer worthy of coming back to.

12oz bottle served in the Innis and Gunn chalice. Lots of rum flavours, one of Innis and Gunn’s better beers.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Golden amber with an off white foam. Aromas are toffee and marzipan with vanilla. Spicy with dark rum and lots of booze. Honey and lemon with burnt rubber. Flavours are sweet caramel and vanilla with bitter lemon and rum syrup. Nutty alcohol with spices. Industrial and a bit rough. Still one of the better Innis & Gunns.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at the Yellow Springs Street Fest Craft Beer Garden, served in a plastic cup. Really weird offering; other options were a few Abita, some Crispin ciders. Not sure how they came up with this lineup. Anyway, this one pours a mostly clear, rich amber color with a small off-white head that lasts for a while after an initial fizz. Notes of toffee, brown sugar, toasted nuts, and vanilla, though it all seems a bit restrained in the flavor, which has an unfortunate watered down, slightly earthy quality that saps the energy rather than balances the beer. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation. A bit disappointing.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a clear deep red with a small. All white ring. Aroma of rich caramel, creamy pudding, baked apples, pears, vanilla and oak. Taste is biscuit, caramelized fruits like pear and apple with cinnamon spice like spiced rum. Also a bit of oak and lychee on the finish from the hop bitterness. Excellent oak aged Scottish export ale.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Where and how: Virginia Beach bottle 355 ml
Aroma fairly string Rum cask feel , straight with solid cask play.
Top: creamy off white lighter top, some lace shown.
Base: light brown
Palate : medium bodied.
Taste: frontal oak, hinted cola , classic feel to it. Solid malts behind. This is one of better Innis brews.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thanks, Kevin! Clear glass, eh? Weird, but it doesn’t seem to have effected the beer too much. Nice copper pour with tawny bits poking through here and there. Medium carbonation, gone quickly but not without leaving sticky lacing. Nice decadent nose of soaked oak, vanilla, and piquant fruit. Sweet malty brew benefits from this, and as I had this on a relatively chilly evening it went over well. Not the most complex brew but a fine toffee vehicle.
