3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle. As with all I&G beers, this one looks stunningly appetizing in its clear bottle - red-orange elixir (Lovibond 8) beckoning me to pour it into my I&G glass. I'm weak, so I pour it smoothly to produce an adequate but quickly dissipating white head. Leaves an effervescent lacing. Aromas of cotton candy and vanilla waft up. Much nicer smell than most Innis & Gunns. I don't really taste the 'spiced rum' but what I do taste is fantastic: maltiness balanced with oaky and smoky notes. Vanilla and toffee, obviously. Sweeter than other I&G offerings but I thinkers balanced as well. One of their better beers! Worth getting again!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
33cl bottle. Pours a nice clear honey colour with a nicely proportioned. The nose has spiced balsalm would with a hint of stewed apple. The taste has more spiced apple, some butterscotch, some sweet wood spices and then it slightly falls away. The palate is medium bodied textured with a slightly cloying finish.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Poured from a 330mL bottle. Clear copper colour with dissipating white head. Toffee, oak, vanilla aroma. Similar tastes with an overlay of rum. Quite light with little finish. I don’t think the rum works as well as other finishes - seems gimmicky.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a deep amber orange head, aromas are of the obvious oak caramel and vanilla trying to find the rum but struggling. Little bit more rum on the Taste with an oaky back drop, nice beer but a little one dimensional,

Bottle 330 ml
Aroma: aged for over a month gave fairly strong rum cask notes , caramel malt as backing, slight dryness of alcohol. 7-
Look: clear amber with short lived frisky top. 2+
Taste: medium full bodied. Soft mellow sugary base with smooth rum feel. Light spice noted behind. Vanilla with caramel. Sticky. Its good and is as advertised spiced rum sided strong malty ale with sugary backing.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a clear golden orange colour with small slightly off-white head. Aroma is toffee, butter and light oakiness. Flavour is rather buttery with caramel, vanilla and a bit of oak though no real spice to speak of. Slightly lifeless mouthfeel. Not my favourite Innis & Gunn effort.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours from the bottle a rich orange with thick foamy head that quicly dissipates, leaving not even a hint of lacing. Aroma is heavy on caramel, oak and vanilla with a little rum, but no noticable spice. Medium body with lively carbonation. Smooth and slightly syrupy with a drier finish. Taste is sweet toffee at first, becoming oaky in the middle and finishing off with rum and spice notes. Overall, pretty good, but a tad sweet and syrupy for my taste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a transparent dark golden orange, fine white head, lots of carbonation. Aroma: Really strong notes of vanilla and toffee, hints of rum. Smells really sweet; Not spicy at all. Palate: fairly thin bodied but not watery, fizzy, syrupy, slightly dry in the finish. Taste: very sweet, gets spicier closer to the finish.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A sweetish though not cloying ale. A moderate richness in the finish from an aged anejo black rum cask. Light in the spice department its mostly the vanilla. Drinkable, significant oak mid sip.

3.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nov 14, 2012. 330ml bottle pours rich amber colour with small foamy head that fades quickly to ring and leaves no lacing. Aroma is fantastic! Sweet caramel malt with nuts and rum, hints of vanilla and floral. Expected the flavour to be stronger based on aroma but quite subdued. Not much spice but rich rum malt with typical Innis vanilla and toffee flavour. Palate was very smooth and like silk to drink. A tad too easy drinking and light for this style.
