COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This limited bottling of Innis & Gunn has been finished over oak infused with Caribbean Spiced Rum. The result is absolutely delicious, bursting with the flavours of Caribbean spices along with our signature notes of vanilla, toffee and oak.

Aroma is oak wood and malty sweetness. First sip is oak sour and caramel sweet malts. Aftertaste is dextrin sugar and smooth oakiness.

Single bottle purchased from a Liquor Store at the Airport in Vancouver, BC on 10/22/2012. Colour: Dark brown with thin white lacing. Nose: Definitive oak with a nice vanilla backdrop. Sea salt air. Spice is present but not heavy. Swirling brings out cherries. Taste: Medium-high sweet, medium-light bitter, medium-light sour. Strong presence of icing sugar among a bed of spices. Floral and a bit poofy. Not really my bag.

Ok Iím going to give Innis & Gunn another chance after a few years of boycotting this crappy beer company I decided to give it another chance. Clear amber brew with a creamy white cap floating on top. Sweet bready aroma with hints of spice, and honey. What is that fruit?!?!?!?! I canít nail it down. Oak is starting to show now when warm. Buttery oak flavour with possible raspberry, rum is coming through. Wow this is not good, not good at all. How does this brewery keep making the same crappy oak aged beer. Malts are ok quality but the oak doesnít complement it at all it just turns in to sweet butter drink. I guess there was a spice but at this point I donít care. I think I need to give this place another three year break.

Aroma has hints of cereal malt with a strong sweet woody backbone. Appearance is an awesome clear amber with light carbonation bubbles. No real head, though small carbonation bubbles come up to the surface frequently. Iím actually not a fan of the taste compared to the non-spiced rum cask I&G. Taste is a medium sweetness balanced with medium/heavy bitterness. Can definitely tell the spiced rum character, and itís nice, but not amazing. Palate has a medium body, texture feels thin and oily. Carbonation is fizzy, and there is an long bitter/astringent finish. Overall, I LOVE the idea of this beer, and Iím a big fan of their normal rum cask version, but the taste just wasnít what I was hoping for. I think personally it need much more sweetness to it.

Draft at the Khyber strongly appears to be this version. Definite sugar rum elements but not convinced it is the aged version. Medium-light caramel flavors. Butterscotch. Vanilla bourbon. Cinnamon. Fresh oak. Honey tangerines. Hints of some heathery peat in the dry finish. Complex aroma but feels a bit thin.

Bottled@SBWF2012. Amber to pale copper colour with a small creamy slightly off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, toffee, mild spices, some sugary and sweet notes along with mild vanilla. Flavour is fudge/caramel/toffee with some sugary and a bit herbal earthy notes. Quite sweetish finish with mild vanilla as well.

Sniffer pour, deep golden amber. Aroma is full sliced rum, sweet malt and caramel. Flavor follows, nice spice more than rum flavor. Caramel and toasted sugar. Little to no lacing. Not bad, overall. Not amazing

Bottle. Pours a clear copper amber with a medium sized white head. Spices, wood and vanilla, oak. Medium bodied, sweet malt, light paper. Not as sweet as the others, toast, wood. Bitter malt and spices, more vanilla. Decent enough, finishes with long spiced bitterness.

Pours a copper with good amount of head. Aroma is vanilla oak toffee rum and spices. Huge flavor. Taste is very complex, oak spices and a rum finish. Awesome beer.

11.2oz bottle into an Innis and Gunn tulip. Pours a clear ruby/copper with a half finger white head that quickly fades into a ring around the side of the glass. Nothing in the way of lacing. Aroma has lots of butterscotch along with wood and toffee. A little bit of orange citrus is also present in the background. The flavor really has quite a bit going on. There is overwhelming butterscotch up front but the fades rather quickly yielding numerous other flavors. Wood is there along with vanilla and a bit of a citric tartness. Orange is what comes to mind along with some spice. You can definitely tell this was aged on spice rum chips. Overall, a decent beer that is pretty much par for the course when it comes to Innis & Gunn. It might not blow you away but it is very solid. I would recommend picking this up if you were to come across it.
