3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
33cl bottle from Sainsburys. Deep mahogany with a fast settling beige head, aromas of sweet rum, a little wood, a little raisin. Full and malty on the tongue, then sweetening but not aggressively so, with notes of demerara, xmas cake and spice, and a warming gently bitter finish.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Alla kanter och spänningar har lindats in i bubbelblast, oskadliggjorts till gränsen för det oförargliga. Synd och skam, då grundtonerna utgör en riktigt njutbar melodi som man gärna nynnar med i, full som nykter (fast mest som full).

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
330ml bottle as part of the innis and gunn xmas giftpack at the lcbo.
Amber pour, small white head. Typical innis aroma, butter, and caramel malts. I cant say im finding any rum or spice. The butter seems to die off and doesnt linger very much like past innis offerings. There is a quite sweet, and fruity finish, with a very light bitterness. But overall its pretty meh.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
330 ml bottle in gift pack from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Clear deep amber with a so-so light tan head.
Aroma: Berry-like fruitiness, oddly sweet...like a malt liquor, unfortunately, some wood notes, a little spice, brown sugar, a bit of a savoury note, a little alcohol.
Palate: Medium body, moderate effervescence, fairly smooth.
Flav.: Lots of fruitiness, mainly berries, a touch of pepperiness, some wood and vanilla, coconut, brown sugar, hints of warm spices; dry with limited bitterness and a sweet fruity, brown sugar and wood finish.
Nothing to write home about. Thankfully, ratebeer isn’t really “home”.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a clear, somewhat dull, medium gold, with a white head that disappears quite quickly.
The aroma is rather fruity, with quite a lot of spicy rum notes, along with tropical fruits, honey, malt, and of course wood and vanilla, and the usual truckload of diacetyl and butterscotch. I pick up something like burnt candle wax as well.
Off-dry, on the lighter side of medium bodied, low bitterness, quite lively CO2.
I’m pleasantly surpised that this one is not as cloyingly sweet as other I&G releases, the taste packs a lot of spicy notes from the rum and the wood, vanilla, diacetyl, faintly hoppy, actually there’s even something resembling malt going on here. The finish is a bit acidic, almost artificial, and leaves a feeling that I want to scrape something of my tongue. (2011-11-30)

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours rich bronze with a good half inch of lingering head. Aroma is quite striking: oak, vanilla, honey, toffee. Taste is pretty aggressively oaky to open. Finish moves towards a vanilla/buttery finish. Bitterness throughout. Bit thin and watery.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle. Poured a deep red amber with very little head. Lively carbonation with sticky sides. Aroma is light, sweet fruit with some wood and vanilla. Taste is very light spice with a medium rum sweetness and the usual I&G woodsy malt, but lighter. Palate was, once again, lighter than I expected. Overall, I liked the Winter Beer better from this year’s gift pack.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a finger of white head which settles quickly leaving only traces of lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel with some oak and a trace of rum and mild spice. Taste is a caramel sweetness with traces of oak, rum and spice with a light earthy hop bitterness. Light to medium body and light carbonation. This is an interesting ale which was enjoyable enough, but nothing special.
