3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 stefannilssons (870) - SWEDEN - NOV 10, 2011

330ml bottle - A deep red amber with very little head. Aroma is light, sweet fruit with some wood and vanilla. Taste is very light spice with a medium rum sweetness and a woody malt touch. As usual with Innis and Gun, a syrupy palate, and sweetness at the end. Not too bad, but not my favourite I&G by any stretch of the imagination.

330ml bottle. Poured a deep red amber with very little head. Lively carbonation with sticky sides. Aroma is light, sweet fruit with some wood and vanilla. Taste is very light spice with a medium rum sweetness and the usual I&G woodsy malt, but lighter. Palate was, once again, lighter than I expected. Overall, I liked the Winter Beer better from this year’s gift pack.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Lagerboy (705) - British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 18, 2011
Clear dark copper, thin tan head. Spicy, fruity rum aroma. Sweet malty, toffee, vanilla, spiced rum flavors. Buttery and silky, totally delicious, but somewhat manufactured. Bet you can drink just one! LF (Lagerboy Friendly)
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 rangerred (674) - Johnson City, Tennessee, USA - SEP 14, 2012
11.2oz bottle into an Innis and Gunn tulip.
Pours a clear ruby/copper with a half finger white head that quickly fades into a ring around the side of the glass. Nothing in the way of lacing.
Aroma has lots of butterscotch along with wood and toffee. A little bit of orange citrus is also present in the background.
The flavor really has quite a bit going on. There is overwhelming butterscotch up front but the fades rather quickly yielding numerous other flavors. Wood is there along with vanilla and a bit of a citric tartness. Orange is what comes to mind along with some spice. You can definitely tell this was aged on spice rum chips.
Overall, a decent beer that is pretty much par for the course when it comes to Innis & Gunn. It might not blow you away but it is very solid. I would recommend picking this up if you were to come across it.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 dogbomb (653) - ENGLAND - FEB 10, 2013
Bottle, in a box. Pours a lovely crystal clear reddish amber with a fading head. Nose is pungent! Instantly pick up that rum, but it’s not overpowering. There’s a lot of vanilla, oak and toffee in there too. In the taste, there’s an instant coconut hit and more vanilla and toffee. A little on the sweet side, due to the rum I think. Finish is warming, spicy and vanilla. Another I&G cracker. They always feel a little special when I drink them.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Reimer96 (620) - Alberta, CANADA - JUN 3, 2013
Pours a clear medium copper with a small white ring. Aroma of vanilla, oak, toffee, spices and some sweet dried fruits. Taste is oak, spiced rum, vanilla, toffee and a clean and crisp bitterness on the finish. Decent touch.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 thb (617) - Alberta, CANADA - DEC 13, 2011
Pours rich bronze with a good half inch of lingering head. Aroma is quite striking: oak, vanilla, honey, toffee. Taste is pretty aggressively oaky to open. Finish moves towards a vanilla/buttery finish. Bitterness throughout. Bit thin and watery.
