This limited bottling of Innis & Gunn has been finished over oak infused with Caribbean Spiced Rum. The result is absolutely delicious, bursting with the flavours of Caribbean spices along with our signature notes of vanilla, toffee and oak.

0.33l clear bottle wrapped in a paper box. Have to admit that it’s some time since I’ve had a Innis & Gunn beer now, but it looks like it should. Whisky colored and crystal clear in the glass with a small quickly islandy off-white top. I like the sweet caramelly nose with peppery and spicy tones. A little bit of butter and butterscotch also wrapped in between here. Surprisingly smooth in the mouth with a light oily almost creamy mouthfeel wrapped in a average small bubbly carbonation level. It has that well known sweetness that all their beer has, in addition to this a peppery spicy and woody flavor. I’m actually liking what I’m tasting. Not cloying at all and there is a well balanced little hint of alcohol all the way that makes it a bit more interesting. I’m no big rum drinker, but I think I’m tasting the rum as well and it has a vanilla theme all the way through. Not bad at all. 11.07.2013

Bottle. Amber, average and fully diminishing head. Moderate malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel and light dark fruitiness - vinous notes, light spiciness - rum, light vanilla/oak, light alcohol. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish, some caramel, some dark fruitiness, light vanilla, some alcohol. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, faint caramel, and faint fruitiness and light vanilla, alcohol. OK aroma, but finish almost totally lacks fruitiness - too much alcohol in the finish. Aroma/flavor not in balance.

.33l bottle in Belgrade, thanks to Andy (who will soon be rating here himself, he promises me). .33l clear bottle with sticky off brown-gray pour. alc-fermented ale, sweet off alc notes that are all around these beers. Nutty caramel, sweet brown body, root beer flavors.. Body is smooth and satisfying but does not sing. Caramel rich and hot finish, some sweet rum caramel. Easy to drink, could dangerously pound this all day, but it is a treat that is not so well put together with balance. Good medium of the road special ale. But off-flavors abound.

330 ml bottle in gift pack from LCBO, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.

App.: Clear deep amber with a so-so light tan head. Aroma: Berry-like fruitiness, oddly sweet...like a malt liquor, unfortunately, some wood notes, a little spice, brown sugar, a bit of a savoury note, a little alcohol. Palate: Medium body, moderate effervescence, fairly smooth. Flav.: Lots of fruitiness, mainly berries, a touch of pepperiness, some wood and vanilla, coconut, brown sugar, hints of warm spices; dry with limited bitterness and a sweet fruity, brown sugar and wood finish.

Nothing to write home about. Thankfully, ratebeer isn’t really “home”.

33cl bottle from Sainsburys. Deep mahogany with a fast settling beige head, aromas of sweet rum, a little wood, a little raisin. Full and malty on the tongue, then sweetening but not aggressively so, with notes of demerara, xmas cake and spice, and a warming gently bitter finish.

Flaske. Ravfarvet, klar, medium, boblende off-white skum med kort holdbarhed. Træ, acetone, rom, karamel, figner. Sød, maltet, woody, krydret - a la mørk røget kardemomme, allehånde, nelliker. I like ’dis.

From a bottle. Pours golden orange with short lasting white head. Aroma of caramel, vanilla and light spice, some vegetal hops. Tastes rank, lots of vanilla, oak, toffee, very unbalanced. Sweet and cloying, doesn’t finish well. Pretty shocking stuff, not into this at all

I love the aroma, it reminds me of vanilla frosting. the beer is smooth yet has a strong flavor. its not all malts and no hop bitterness. its perfect for an English style ale.
