India Pale Ale first made its name in the 19th century. Here’s hoping our pioneering IPA can make its mark too.
Its fervent hoppy character hails from the unique addition of large quantities of hops at three separate points during brewing. The result is a beer that’s rounded yet refreshing, with delicate floral notes and oodles of zesty freshness.

Pale gold
Freshly mown grass, clean grapefruit and pine trees
Rich vanilla from the oak, with lots of zestness and a light bitterness from the hops
Full bodies, but still crisp and refreshing.

The familiar malty aroma of a British IPA with a gorgeous golden pour; this is far hoppier than I expected. Citrus and floral notes with some pine and caramel malts and a hint of vanilla as well. Smooth, if a little light. Almost as good as their Canadian Cherrywood Finish.

Clear pour. Some floral hops and bit of sweetness and oak. Medium bodied. Almost like a hoppy lager with the sweetness. Forgetful.

Bottle - Sweet caramel malts, oak and a touch of citrus. Clear gold with a decent white head. Sweet caramel with a light hop bitterness. Not bad but a bit dull.

Pours clear amber with a thick and frothy eggshell head. Aroma is crisp and malty, not much else. Flavor is definitely better, trotting out fruity and subtle hoppy tones to support the malty core. Texture has average body and not much fizz. If not outstanding - maybe this was not one of their better batches. Worth a fair shake nonetheless.

330ml bottle from Waitrose, BB April 2016. Golden orange, pretty clear, lightly sparkling, big foamy white head, light lacing. Aroma is musty towel, lemonade, mulched card. Body is light, spritzy carbonation, a little foamy. Taste is tangy and drying, woody and metallic, grapefruit, paper and rust. Big rust vibe. Soft bitterness. Interesting - just a bit too dry and astringent. I was expecting this to be insipid and under-done, but actually it’s intense and over-done.

Espuma abundante e clara, cerveja bem clara. Aroma de terra com ervas. Gosto com toque de baunilha pouco amargor do lúpulo. Cerveja boa para um dia quente.

Pours a finger of head on a clear darker straw body. The aroma is resin, wood, honey and vanilla. Nice. The taste starts slow, mildly bitter, then turn vanilla and woody with a mild pine bitter finish. The texture is soft, yet a little fizzy. The IPA and oak play well together.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330 ml bottle purchased and enjoyed in Largoward, Fife, Scotland. The toasted oak comes out most in the aroma.; it’s suite subtle in tasting. Hoppy but with mild bitterness and some caramel from the malts. There’s a nice touch of vanilla too. O: nice, distinct English IPA.
