3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
First thoughts were an, just stick to the original Innis and Gunn my boys. However by the end it very nearly worked. Got golden appearance and a sweet hoppy aroma. It says on the back that it is attempting to replicate the IPA’s of the 1800s and you could actually imagine this being drunk in those times. It tastes antique and vintage like smelling your great great grannies home with toasted caramels and bitterness. It works and it doesn’t. Hey Innis and Gunn are a good welcome brand and options are abound. This one just misses being a good beer and hangs around average.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Average head. Floral smell. Aromatic ale with pine and dried fruit in the flavor. The hoppiness is apparent but not overwhelming like many of the new IPAs. Didn’t notice any vanilla - thank god. Easy to drink, easy to enjoy.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle to tulip, beer pours a clear gold color with a small white head. Aroma is typical of Innis and Gunn’s beers, with spice and alcohol along with oak being prominent. There’s some citrus and tree sap aromas but they aren’t strong. The beer tastes like the standard beer these guys make with an extra dose of hops. Not saying it’s bad but a little predictable. Palate wise, the beer is thin bodied and dry with decent carbonation...quite nice...the glass is going at a good rate, so overall I say this is pretty enjoyable.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 14A. English IPA). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L4148 19:50. AROMA: medium-low hop aromas of floral and citrusy character. mild sweet malt background and some wood barrel. APPEARANCE: pale golden color and translucent. Thin white head with poor retention. TASTE: mild floral hop flavours with a very faint malty background. background shows a mild oak barrel flavour. medium-high bitterness that lingers into a almost dry aftertaste. PALATE: medium-light body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a supposed barrel aged IPA that needs more assertive "aged" notes.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours very light and clear. Aroma full of zest and lemon. No toasted oak flavour evident in the beer, perhaps overridden by the hops. The hop flavour is a little sweet and quite pleasant.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330 ml bottle which was part of a four pack gift set purchased from the LBCO.
Appearance: Pours a clear light amber colour with almost a finger of white head that is gone in about 30 seconds.
Aroma: Malt mainly with a bit of honey.
Flavours: Vanilla and some malt. Slightly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Crisp with moderate carbonation.
Overall: This is a nice beer but I would never know it was an IPA if they didn’t say so. I get no indication of hops other than a bit of bitterness on the finish.
